"The Notorious EB".

After helping the CLI ADS Bakers deliver shop-made cupcakes to our SSA friends, EB disrupted our Virtual Zoom Bingo session in person!

John's usual--

I hope that everyone enjoyed the long Easter Holiday weekend. I know that I and the rest of CLI staff have really appreciated the break. We've been so short-staffed for so long that it's really hard to for anyone to take much time off. This is also the first weekend that Kenilee Lanes hasn't been been open or had any private rentals in quite a while.

CLI has been really relying on the workshop building for our old school (ADS) large group day services and for our old school paid work training services (Voc-Hab). As we get ready for the commissioners to take over ownership of this building from HCBDD, it will eventually mean (probably in 2024) that CLI's footprint will be limited to the shop floor, the loading docks & the shred room. So, long-term many of CLI's Voc-Hab services will still happen at the shop. I think that the shift of the workshop towards a shared community space is a good thing for all concerned. I think that we as staff do a better job when we know that there are lots of visitors in & out of our world-- and I think that there are many more teachable moments that happen in integrated settings. Shifting our large-group ADS services to other spaces that we have access-- such as the reservoir clubhouse or the UCC Undercroft or other isn't really a big deal other than in the sense that little changes are sometimes surprisingly disruptive. At any rate, I'm grateful that the Huron Commissioners are so supportive of CLI's mission and I look forward to working with them as the new property owners.

I know that people really enjoyed visiting the Cleveland Aquarium last week. We'd like to know if people would like to do more of this kind of road trip now that we can count on the weather being decent. Let us know.

Enjoy the week. The weather forecast looks really good all week!

Still hard at "work" volunteering with CLI's Friday Good Works Cafe.

It's definitely rewarding to see how grateful people are for this!

CLI is still running our virtual Bingo--

We're doing it on Thursday afternoons and it is open to anyone, whether at home or another day service provider location. It's a lot of fun and a good way to connect with people that you might not otherwise get to see.

Click here to have the Bingo link emailed to you!

CLI's Good Works Cafe offers a free community lunch every Friday afternoon at the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse.

Thanks to the generous donations (money & food), CLI is able to take care of our neighbors and also get some real life restaurant and customer service job training.

Question of the week

There was no question of the week-- other than the mask one again. We know that everyone is really tired of the masks. We've just felt that it was better safe than sorry during the cold & flu season.

CLI has a staff meeting this Thursday and we will be discussing how much longer we all think we need to keep the masks on in vehicles.

CLI's three-part mission
