John's usual--
Starting this week, CLI is finally dropping the masks! From now on it's 100% individual choice whether a particular staff or client feels most comfortable with or without a mask.
On the political front, thanks to state-wide advocacy-- there is reason to believe that the House Finance Committee will recommend significant reimbursement rate increases to DD providers. This is long overdue. With the exception of a single 4% increase that happened at the beginning of 2022, provider reimbursement rates have been capped at the same dollar amounts for the last 2 decades. Unfortunately-- all of the real expenses have doubled or even tripled in that same time span. It is important to keep in mind that this is not just a DD problem. Unsustainable payment rates are the norm for every type of direct care sector-- DD, Home Health, Nursing Homes, etc. Somehow we have to figure to allocate a greater percentage of the money to support the direct care that supports the people that the money has been earmarked for. Change is hard. At any rate, I really appreciate OPRA's leadership in advocating for providers like CLI. It's wonderful to see this issue gaining traction. OPRA stands for Ohio Provider Resource Association and you can learn more about it at OPRA.org.
CLI is working on our special spring & summer programs right now. We've got some fun initiatives in the works, so stay tuned!
Have a great week!
John
