John's usual--

Please help CLI spread the word about our next Student & Parent Mixer at Kenilee Lanes on Monday, May 15th. This free event is targeting to get kids with a developmental disability together to have fun glow-bowling & eating pizza while parents meet to learn from one another. We'll invite SSAs from the Huron County Board of DD to join us that evening. The kids always have a blast and I think it's been helpful for parents to compare notes. In my experience, families are almost always unaware of what exactly happens after graduation and how different post-graduation supports are from what they've been used to for the previous 12+ years. Also, there are so many new resources and initiatives for kids transitioning out of high school right now that parents don't know about.

The All Ports Yacht Club has invited us out again on Friday, June 16th, for boat rides on Sandusky Bay before a big picnic lunch in their clubhouse at Venetian Marina. It's a fun time and many of the boat owners will let you drive too. We've got a sign-up list started. First dibs will go to people who normally participate in CLI programs on Fridays and people employed in the community (assuming that they can get off work). If you don't normally do stuff with CLI on Fridays, we might have some extra room, so let us know if you're interested. If it doesn't work out, we can always line up more boat rides. I know lots of boat people. This trip is not wheelchair accessible unfortunately. However, please let me know if you use a wheelchair and would like to go for a boat ride. We have some ideas for that too!

Have a great week!

John

Participate in the DODD Family/Guardian Caregiver Survey

Attention: Family Caregivers

The Family Caregiver Survey is for a family member or guardian who provides paid or unpaid caregiving to a family member with intellectual or developmental disabilities who receives supports from a county board of developmental disabilities. The data that you provide will allow the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities to understand the challenges faced by family caregivers and formulate policies to overcome them. Click here to learn more about the DODD Family/Guardian Caregiver Survey. If you are interested in participating, please email DODDFamilySurvey@osumc.edu to be sent a link to the Family Caregiver Survey.

CLI is still running our virtual Bingo--

We're doing it on Thursday afternoons and it is open to anyone, whether at home or another day service provider location. It's a lot of fun and a good way to connect with people that you might not otherwise get to see.

Click here to have the Bingo link emailed to you!

CLI's Good Works Cafe offers a free community lunch every Friday afternoon at the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse.

Thanks to the generous donations (money & food), CLI is able to take care of our neighbors and also get some real life restaurant and customer service job training.

If you'd like to learn more or would like to donate to this cause--

Question of the week

Q: What do I have to do to sign up for the All Ports Yacht Club Boat Trip on Friday, June 16th?

A: Just tell any CLI staff to get you on the list. Preference will go to people who normally participate in CLI activities on Fridays AND to people who are employed in the community and can get off work. Don't worry if that isn't you. If there's room, we'll take you!
