Week of August 10th!

John's Usual --

Welcome aboard to CLI's newest staff member, Jason Orth. He's the guy on the right in this photo. Jason's backyard will be Firelands Local's Document Destruction room & Boatwrap Recycling garage-- so Firelands Local employees who work on either of those two projects will get to know Jason well!

Speaking of the shred room & baling garage-- this coming Monday is Malena's last day with Firelands Local before she returns for her senior year at the Bowling Green State University, where she is majoring in special education with an emphasis on autistism. We've appreciated the opportunity to work with and get to know Malena. If you see her around the shop on this Friday or next Monday-- make sure to wish her well!

We're making lots of progress on the Kenilee Lanes Wheelchair Accessibility project! I know that I keep promising pictures soon . . .

I've shared a glow bowl carpet swatch below. Take a look and if you are so inclined, click on the link to tell us if you love it, hate it, or couldn't care less!

Have a good week!

John

OHgoooooooooooo!

What's new in THRIVE?

We have been working hard on our interview skills. We have been working on more of the parts that folks do not think of as much. All the steps from when you say “I want a Job” to here is the interview. We have been working on body language in the interview. I have also started to have everyone clean up after themselves after each THRIVE group. Wiping the tables and putting away our own stuff.

Firelands Local LLC

The workshop provides a safe space to learn new job task-- both to broaden abilities, but also to see what people like to do-- whether that's big "gross motor" tasks like baling cardboard and boatwrap, or "fine motor" tasks like product assembly.

CLI & FL work together to provide an array of employment training options both in the workshop and out in the community.

If any other Firelands Local employees (besides Andrew & Zeth) would like to be featured in this section of the newsletter-- send in your work pics!

The Latest from The Good Works Cafe (GWC)--

GWC Volunteers puts together a delicious & free community meal every Friday, served at the Norwalk Veteran's Memorial Lake Park Clubhouse!

CLI’s Good Works Cafe has had the privilege of serving the community with meals on a donation basis since 2020. We are thankful for all of the community partnerships and support we have had to make it this far. Quite honestly, we are struggling to keep up with the need for meals due to a shortage of donations. Unfortunately this means we will be limiting the max amount of meals per vehicle to five as of 8/1/2026. Every donation, no matter the size, helps to continue serving those in the community. Thank you for your kindness and support!

If you are able to help, here are some ways you can support us: non- perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cooking/baking essentials, monetary donations to help purchase fresh ingredients or even sharing our message with others can make a meaningful difference!
