The Usual--

It was a good time last Friday night at 38 West Seminary. Thanks to everyone who came out to support CLI, we made a bit more progress toward our $207K goal needed to make Kenilee Lanes fully wheelchair accessible next summer (2026). We've still got a long way to go, so we'll be running another fundraiser in November around Local Saturday (after Thanksgiving) and then we'll start another August 2026 Reverse Raffle push. This time we'll be beginning ticket sales earlier in the year. I think the Norwalk Eagles might be willing to host us, which would be really helpful. Stay tuned!

CLI was notified by the Ohio Department of DD that we should expect an on-site Provider Compliance Review sometime in the next 90 days. Frankly, we've been expecting this for some time. It's always worrisome when someone looks over things with a fine-toothed comb, but all-in-all I think we're ready. Also, we're eager to get the state's feedback on our efforts around meaningful community integration and employment first curriculum.

Q: What does CLI look for in a potential employee (aka "new staff)?

A: We love to find people that are new to our field. The reality is that CLI staff have to have so much inside knowledge and specific skills that it's really unlikely that someone would already know everything they need to know. We really look hard at candidates to evaluate their integrity, work ethic, and personal ambitions. We can't and don't want to work with anyone who doesn't have those 3 bases covered when they walk in the door. The rest we can train. The right person can learn everything, but the reality is that it doesn't matter how much skill and talent the wrong candidate has.

CLI encourages you to contact our politicians to make sure that they know how important and relevant DD services are to you. The reality is that $.66 out of every dollar spent on people with DD in Ohio comes from federal Medicaid dollars. Your voice matters!
