What can CLI help you do?
Probably the last sailing for 2021!

It was just too hot to leave the air-conditioning at a few points last week!

Group puzzle work at 16 West was just the thing.
Jill & Cathy spent some time on the Huron Pier this week. It really is 10 degrees cooler by the water! Woody & Paula spent some time in a sunflower field despite the heat.
John's usual--

Let's all keep taking these different COVID Varients (Delta, Gamma, etc.) seriously. If we're indoors within 6' of others, let's keep those masks up-- all the way over the nose! Same as you are walking around into other people's space while indoors-- or even outdoors if in a crowded setting.

Enjoy your 3 day weekend coming up. Keep those hands and surfaces clean. We've all gotten just a little too comfortable I think.

Bowling leagues are forming up. Swick is taking names if you want to be on a team this year. Also, final cornhole tourney is next Friday. Fun stuff.

That's all I have for this week. Enjoy the outdoors & keep your hands clean.
John

It's a bunch of loud fun!
Firelands Local Update:
It was a hot week last week. Hopefully this coming week will be cooler and not too wet.

Keep the people in Louisiana in your thoughts. Hurricane Ida is doing some damage.

Director Davis Provides Update on the Blueprint Work Group and Recommendations:

Adult Day and Employment Services have evolved rapidly in Ohio. As a response to this demand, DODD created the Blueprint Work Group.

The Blueprint for Adult Day and Employment Services Work Group convened from January 2020 to May 2021 to improve adult day support services, transportation services, and strengthen competitive and integrated employment outcomes for people with developmental disabilities throughout Ohio.

The workgroup finalized its Blueprint proposal and the next step is to implement their recommendations. DODD is developing implementation teams to begin putting their work into action.

The final Blueprint Proposal is published on DODD's website along with meeting minutes and other information and resources regarding Adult Day and Employment Services.
Updated Information About COVID-19 From
Dr. Laura, DODD Medical Director

What changed with COVID-19?
As COVID-19 continues to circulate, genetic variants have been identified. It is not unexpected that the virus causing COVID-19 is changing. The nature of RNA viruses is to evolve and change.

Why is the Delta Variant different?
The difference in the Delta Variant is that it is at least 50% more transmissible or contagious. Earlier in the pandemic, the main strain was Alpha. One person with Alpha might infect two to three people. Now, one person with Delta might infect five to nine people

What can you do?
If you haven't already, vaccination is recommended. If you are immunocompromised, ask your doctor if a third vaccine dose is right for you. Vaccinations are still highly effective against the Delta Variant. Vaccinations protect against "morbidity and mortality" or being very ill with COVID-19 to the point of being in the ICU or dying. According to the CDC, during the recent surge of people requiring hospitalization for COVID-19, 97% are unvaccinated.

FDA Approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine Renamed Comirnaty
On August 23, 2021, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the first COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, and will now be marketed as Comirnaty (Koe-mir'-na-tee), for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older. The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization (EUA), including for individuals 12 through 15 years of age and for the administration of a third dose in certain immunocompromised people.

Learn more about Comirnaty on the FDA website, including fact sheets and FAQs.
