Week of August 4th 2025!

Have you seen anyone from CLI do something that impressed you? Did we do anything that made you wish we hadn't?

Take 3 minutes and fill out a quick survey to tell us about it. There's a FREE Ohio Lottery Scratch Off ticket in it for you-- and we'll keep it confidential if you want us to.

The Bellevue Library featured exotic animals for patrons last week. We learned a lot and even got to pet a few of them.

FYI-- if you haven't been following your local library lately-- you really should. Libraries have really expanded what they offer. Way more than just books & movies!

The Usual--

We hope to see everyone at 38 West Seminary this Friday, August 8th, for our Cornhole Tournament & Reverse Raffle! It will be a good time with lots of great food and beverages.

100% of what we raise for the next year will go toward making Kenilee Lanes Bowling Center fully wheelchair accessible for our clients and the public at large. We're pretty excited about this project because we think people will be really wowed by the finished design. However, it's a big lift! Our target construction date is May, 2026. This means we have 11 more months to raise $195K.

Ohio's entire DD system is propped up by Medicaid federal funding. Now that the new OBBBA has passed, Medicaid support for DD services in Ohio needs everyone' continued advocacy. There don't seem to be any immediate cuts into Medicaid Waivers, but the new law will dramatically impact what Medicaid funds come to Ohio, which means that as time moves forward, there will likely be efforts to reduce DD spending. We all need to pay attention and let our politicians know that we are. Anytime you see/hear something you like or something that worries you, here are local contacts:

The Good News from the Good Works Cafe--

Question of the week

Q: What does CLI look for in a potential employee (aka "new staff)?

A: We love to find people that are new to our field. The reality is that CLI staff have to have so much inside knowledge and specific skills that it's really unlikely that someone would already know everything they need to know. We really look hard at candidates to evaluate their integrity, work ethic, and personal ambitions. We can't and don't want to work with anyone who doesn't have those 3 bases covered when they walk in the door. The rest we can train. The right person can learn everything, but the reality is that it doesn't matter how much skill and talent the wrong candidate has.

If you know someone interested, they can find the application on our website at www.CLIsupports.com.
