The Usual--
Thank you everyone who participated in one of our fundraisers last month-- either by buying a wreath or hanging out with Holly & yours truly at our pop up jazz bar at 16 West Main Street last Saturday night during light up Norwalk. We have a long way still to go with the Kenilee Lanes Wheelchair Accessibility Project fundraising-- but we're definitely making progress. In addition to our own fundraisers-- last week we were awarded $50,000 from the David and Jacquie Clark Family Foundation, $1,000 from the Norwalk Eagles Club. This means that we've more than met the match requirement for the $15,000 Challenge Grant offered to CLI by the Randolph & Estelle Dorn Foundation. As of right now, we've raised $91,000 toward our total goal of $207,000. That's not nothing!
There's been a recent snag with public transportation in Huron County that will take effect on January 17th. The agency that administers that, NCAT, has given notice that they will not be providing any rides for Huron County residents after that date. CLI is working with the Huron County Commissioners, Job & Family Services, the Senior Enrichment Center, and the Huron County Board of DD to sort out how to ensure that people with DD can still get where they need to go-- especially to community jobs. Still, there are bumps coming at any of you who currently use NCAT for your regular transportation.
We closed on Tuesday this week (December 2nd) because every school in our local area had already closed and people seemed to be really worried. We don't like to close if we don't have to. You should have gotten a 1-call first alerting you to the delay and then a 2nd call alerting you that we would be closing. If you did not get this call-- or if you would like to add a number or multiple number to be notified by our 1-call system, please let us know.
There are only 20 days left until Christmas! Hard to believe. Have a great weekend.
