Week of December 8th 2025

The Senior Enrichment Cornhole League's CLI Team is ready!

Have you seen anyone from CLI do something that impressed you? Did we do anything that made you wish we hadn't?

Take 3 minutes and fill out a quick survey to tell us about it. There's a FREE Ohio Lottery Scratch Off ticket in it for you-- and we'll keep it confidential if you want us to.

We don't have any pictures from this group's Cleveland/Tower City Christmas Shopping trip because they were afraid of letting others potentially see the stores and/or gifts they were around.

But apparently they were comfortable sending in dinner pics . . .

It's been really, really cold outside lately, but thanks to the Norwalk Ernsthausen Rec Center, we can still keep that heart rate up (safely & comfortably)!

The Usual--

CLI & Firelands Local LLC held our staff Christmas (Vacation) Party last night . We were missing 4 people this year due to other engagements, but this picture (with all 3 Cousin Eddies) really drives home how small our team is these days. Pre-COVID CLI's staff workforce was 36 people, give or take 2. We haven't been more than 20 since & currently we're at 17. The upside is that we are an extremely strong, coordinated team. The downside is that we'd really like to expand to serve more people and do more to meet the needs that we can see-- specifically around supporting people in community jobs and doing more to help young adults transition out of high school to the adult world. One of the exciting things about the DD field right now is that I think that there is finally a DSP career path in which young people can learn and advance. Now we just have to encourage them to step through the front door!

We have just 7 days until a pretty long Christmas break. It looks like it will continue to be cold, so let's dress for the weather we have, not the weather we would prefer. CLI has started working with a car cleaning service-- "The Cleanest Car in Town"-- to help us better stay ahead of keeping our fleet cleaner. Some of the vans were getting pretty questionable. Much of our fleet is older (2015 & 2016 models). We maintain our vehicles well, so we expect to get 2 more years out of these older ones. Please help us keep the vehicles clean (ish) for everyone else by taking all your trash with you when you leave them.

My apologies for taking so long to push out the 2026 Program Calendar. Usually we do this in early November. This fall has been a bit of a whirlwind. Remember this is the default day program calendar only. CLI offers quite a few extracurricular activities and community employment support services that don't show up on this calendar. We're going to try to pull together another March Regional DSP training this spring, but we didn't have the date yet to put that on the calendar. We'll make sure to give everyone plenty of notice once that is scheduled.

Kenilee Lanes has raised just over $90K so far! Only $117K to go! That's all I have for this week. Stay warm and wash those hands!

The whole workshop production crew is super excited for the big holiday-- and making sure that they're name is Santa's right list . . .

The Good News from the Good Works Cafe--

Question of the week

Q: What days are CLI Programs closed for the Christmas & New Year's holiday? Does Firelands Local's holiday schedule have the same days off?

A: CLI & Firelands Local's scheduled 2026 Program Closed Days are: January 1-2, April 4-6 (Easter), May 25 (Memorial Day), July 3 (Independece Day), September 7 (Labor Day), November 25-27 (Thanksgiving), and December 24 - January 3 (Christmas & New Year).

  • FYI -- this schedule does not include any bad weather closings or a possible spring staff training day late in March that has not been scheduled yet.

CLI encourages you to contact our politicians to make sure that they know how important and relevant DD services are to you. The reality is that $.66 out of every dollar spent on people with DD in Ohio comes from federal Medicaid dollars. Your voice matters!
