Week of February 17th, 2024

The CLI-Kenilee Carnation fundraiser went really well. We enjoyed delivering carnations around Norwalk on Friday!

Have you seen anyone from CLI do something that impressed you? Did we do anything that made you wish we hadn't?

Take 3 minutes and fill out a quick survey to tell us about it. There's a FREE Ohio Lottery Scratch Off ticket in it for you-- and we'll keep it confidential if you want us to.

The Usual--

We've had some more responses so far on the google survey that we set up to collect input on how we're doing. We read them all. Keep 'em coming!

I know that we've had lots of snow and cold weather-- but you know what they say, that there really isn't any bad weather, just bad gear . . .

It's been a nice season for winter sports. We haven't had many really cold winters in the last few years. Might as well make the most of it.

There is lots of flu and other illnesses going around, so let's all do what we need to do to keep each other healthy. If you are sick, stay home. For the rest of us, let's keep washing those hands!

Have a great week!

-John

What's new in Thrive?

We've been busy! This past week we announced our Employee of the Month and CLI Star of the Month for January.

Deb is our Employee of the Month. Deb is always pleasant and stays on task without complaining or needing constant supervision. She is also going to be presenting with Caitlyn and Julie at the February Rotary meeting! Way to go Deb!

Michaela is our CLI Star of the Month. Michaela works hard at her volunteer sites. She is very organized and does her best to communicate with her peers. Good job Michaela!

We also do random Shout Outs when we notice people doing something special. Here are some of the Shout Outs on the wall this week.

  • Alex for always asking people how their day is going.
  • Nichelle always helps clean the ADS room.
  • Albert is always willing to help.
  • Tim always makes everyone smile.

In our THRIVE classes we are getting our hands dirty! Caitlyn led the classes in learning about Horticulture. Everyone planted some seeds and we are excited to chart their growth.

And, finally, a HUGE thank you to John, Holly, and Haven for our Smartboard! We can't wait to use it in class.

The Good News from the Good Works Cafe--

Happy Valentines Day!

CLI's Good Works Cafe offers a free community lunch every Friday afternoon at the Norwalk Reservoir,

staffed entirely by volunteers with DD made from food donated by OHgo and other

community partners!

Question of the week

Q: Where does CLI get money to operate?

A: CLI is actually 3 different companies. The largest one is CLI Incorporated, whose business is to provide supports to people with developmental disabilities. CLI bills the Ohio Department of DD for services provided to anyone on a Medicaid "Waiver". Approximately 66% of the money paid to CLI comes from Ohio Medicaid & the remaining 34% comes from the local County Board of DD's tax levies. There are a few people that CLI serves that don't have a Waiver. In this case, 100% of their supports is typically paid by local County Board of DD where they live.

CLI owns two smaller companies. Firelands Local LLC and CLI Good Works LLC. Firelands Local LLC generates 100% of its money through business services like Document Destruction, Boat Wrap Recycling, Assembly, etc. CLI Good Works LLC makes most of it's money through the operation of Kenilee Lanes Bowling Center.
