The week after Fat Tuesday

but CLI's paczkis were given away freely (FWIW)

John's usual--
As you can see, the CLI team was on their A game this week! Not the activities-- like most day service providers, we do all this and more every week. I'm talking about the pictures. This newsletter is better because there are so many interesting pictures! That is awesome.
The workshop was a little slower than usual last week. James expects a heavier production schedule this coming week. I'm pointing this out because the shop is a little bit like construction work. It's either feast or famine, you have to take advantage of the busy times and then also plan for the slack times. CLI's goal with our Vocational Habilitation program (aka the "Workshop") is to help people learn things that will eventually help them succeed in a community job. Staff will take advantage of slow work periods to take career exploration field trips or even just plan a "fun Friday" like we did last week. However, we know that people need the money that they plan to make at the shop. We'll do our best to be able to offer steady, paying work. However, you can definitely help yourself by making as much as you can when there is work. This means clocking in to your work station as soon as you arrive in the morning, and then immediately after lunch. It also means not quitting work early. Firelands Local is paying $10.10 per hour, but it's easy to lose 15 minutes in the morning, then again after lunch, and then 30 minutes at the end of the day. That's an hour total-- or $10 bucks a day!
Knock on wood, we've been lucky with the weather & made it to March this week. We will get some more winter though. Don't let your guard down in terms of dressing for cold weather-- or in terms of keeping yourself safe from germs. There's a lot of colds & respiratory bugs going around. Keep those hands clean and don't completely forget about maintaining a healthy social distance between people.
That's all I have Have a great week!
John

We've been busy with the normal, large-group (mostly facility-based) ADS activities this past week too-- Cardio-drumming, lots of sensory play, bowling, and our newest fun thing at the workshop-- "Crafts with Carole".
Carole is offering crocheting & knitting classes. FYI-- these crafting classes follow a set schedule every week, so if anyone would like to join us, we've got plenty of room for friends. This offer's open to other agencies too.

Our next shred drop off day will be this Wed. March 1 from 9-2.
Also in March is our annual shred day. This year it will be on Friday March 31st from 10-5. The first 500 pounds are free. This is for drop off only and only on that day.

CLI is still running our virtual Bingo--
We're doing it on Thursday afternoons and it is open to anyone, whether at home or another day service provider location. It's a lot of fun and a good way to connect with people that you might not otherwise get to see.

CLI's Good Works Cafe offers a free community lunch every Friday afternoon at the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse.
Thanks to the generous donations (money & food), CLI is able to take care of our neighbors and also get some real life restaurant and customer service job training.
If you'd like to learn more or would like to donate to this cause--
please contact Rhonda White by phone at 419-706-5136 or by email at Rhonda@CLIsupports.com

Question of the week
Q: What do I have to do to join CLI's crafting classes at the workshop?
Is there a cost to do it?
A: Just get in touch with John (email is the easiest way to reach him at john@CLIsuports.com). He'll get your information and help you get connected with Carole's class. There is no cost to participate.
FYI-- if you are not a CLI client and you need special supports in order to participate-- you'll need to bring those staff or family supports with you.
