The Usual--
For anyone else out there that's partaking in "Dry January", we'll be halfway to February later this week-- not that I'm counting or anything . . .
CLI is expecting a Provider Compliance review by the Ohio Department of DD sometime in 2025. Some of this process is making sure that CLI's files, especially our staff files, comply with the Ohio Revised Codes for DD providers. As a small agency, CLI doesn't have an HR department. That function is split between Holly & myself, with Holly taking on the lion's share. We've chosen to stay administratively lean on purpose so that we can spend our money where we believe it's most important-- which is client services and staff wages. Still, I think we'll do fine on this portion of the review. What I'm more interested to get is direct feedback from DODD on our compliance with Ohio's community integration "settings" rule, and the employment first mandate. We have worked (and continue to work) very hard on ensuring that our Adult Day Services (ADS) are meaningful opportunities for both community membership and skill building specific to each person's desired outcomes. This is a ongoing process of continuous improvement and we still have work to do, but I am really looking forward to showing DODD first-hand what we've built so far and having a productive discussion about what directions they'd like to see us push toward and their ideas about how we can work around some of the barriers that still hold us back. We'll share the review date when we have it. My guess is summer or fall.
I hope everyone is doing well on their new year's resolutions so far. I've been kind of slow identifying mine (other than the whole "dry January" thing. So, it's not too late if there's something you'd like to work on. Also, if you fell off the wagon you chose for yourself-- you can still just climb right back on and keep working on that goal. That's a hard one for me. I tend to be all or nothing, but the reality is that incremental progress is still progress and still counts as improvement-- which is the goal, right? We love opportunities to help our clients work on self-identified goals, so even if it isn't in your ISP yet-- if you'd like to try something and/or work toward something-- let us know and we'll be happy to help!
Have a great week! Remember that it's still winter in Ohio. Dress accordingly. And keep washing those hands every chance you get.
