Speaking of Community Employment-- Charlie celebrates his 28th at Jim's Pizza Box in Milan!
Cleveland Guardians Ketchup, Mustard & Onion raced on Case Avenue behind the Norwalk Public Library last Monday. Fun stuff!
If you are an Ohio father with a child with developmental disabilities, of any age, consider participating in a brief (5-10 minute) survey, and joining one of two virtual Father's Forums. We are eager to hear from you!

Survey: Simple, 18-question survey that shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes. Participating fathers will have an opportunity to win one of two $50 gift cards. The survey, which will be open until July 10, 2022, can be found here.

Father’s Forum: An opportunity for fathers to chat via Zoom with other Ohio fathers to share their experiences and what supports and resources they want and need. Afternoon and evening sessions are available:
  • Evening Session: Tuesday, June 28, 2022, from 6 PM – 7 PM (Register here)
  • Afternoon Session: Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 12 PM- 1 PM (Register here)
It's definitely getting hotter, but it's important to keep moving.

One easy way to get your steps in where it's usually a little bit cooler is walking around the waterfront nearby either in Sandusky or in Huron.

Another way is to use the machines in the air-conditioned cardio room at the Norwalk Rec Center.

Exercise can just be strolling around local parks in Norwalk (without getting sweaty)
John's usual--

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Happy father's day to all the dads. One of the great things about living in this area is how many random acts of kindness seem to be so commonplace. I was at the rec center on Friday morning and a gentleman was passing out lottery tickets in the locker room in honor of father's day. Never happened to me before, but it was a fun little start to the workday.

Scroll down for some pictures of last Friday's boat rides on Sandusky Bay courtesy of the All Ports Yacht Club at Venetian Marina. It was so good to be able to finally see Joanne & Tom and all the boat club members. This club's members have been taking great care of us for more than 30 years!

This Friday is our 1st of 4 cornhole tournaments with prizes going to each individual winning team and for the series. The final Saturday event on September 24th will include a chili cook-off & reverse raffle tickets. We'll be selling those raffle tickets all summer for $25 each. If you need a team mate, we can help you find one.

Have a great week! It's going to be another hot one.
John
Looks like the guys have been hanging out at the senior center getting ready for this Friday's tournament in between the regular dartball games.
Finally after having to skip 2020 & 2021 due to COVID we were able to meet up with old friends at the All Ports Yacht Club located in Venetian Marina (Sandusky).

This wonderful club has been hosting an annual June event for CLI-- with powerboat rides around the bay, a great lunch and lots of swag-- since 1992! The weather was perfect, with just enough chop to make it exciting.

We appreciated all the generosity & help from all the members of the All Ports Yacht Club as well as from Matt, Steve & Allison from News 2 You.
FAQ of the week:

Q : I heard that Kenilee Lanes is offering open bowling this summer?

A: Kenilee Lanes is offering special open bowling-- and bowling camps-- weekday mornings during the month of June. They are doing it to promote bowling, but also because CLI is providing some special work training for high school kids who wanted to train in a customer-forward recreation/food service setting.

It's a nice cool air-conditioned space, so if you are looking for an easy activity in the AM-- come hang out in the alley!
CLI & Firelands Local have new opportunities for paid vocational training. So, for those of you who have been asking when the workshop will be open-- this is it.

Full-disclosure, it's going to be a mix of paid work at the workshop, or perhaps another community work place AND classes or activites related to long-term goals of community employment.

Interested? Space is limited, so talk to your SSA today.
