Have you seen anyone from CLI do something that impressed you? Did we do anything that made you wish we hadn't?

Take 3 minutes and fill out a quick survey to tell us about it. There's a FREE Ohio Lottery Scratch Off ticket in it for you-- and we'll keep it confidential if you want us to.

The Usual--

The Ohio Department of DD will be onsite at CLI on Monday, November 3rd for a scheduled Provider Compliance Review. We're excited about the opportunity to show off and to learn ways that we can improve our ability to help our clients! I'll share a full report of what we find out. Stay tuned!

The Huron County Board of DD is on the ballot this fall. When residential or day providers like CLI provide a service to a person with DD, we bill the Ohio Department of DD, who then collects more than a third of that amount from the County Board of DD in the county that the person lives in. That Medicaid money can't be accessed without the local match that currently comes from the property tax levies. Encourage people to look at their tax bill breakdown.

As Ohio's DD system shifts, it's on all of us to work to make sure that the changes are good for the people CLI serves. Ohio is so lucky that our funding through local property tax levies was built in the late 1960's. Our state is better funded than most other states. I know that there are differing opinions on property taxes and I don't know what will happen with this issue. The reality for DD programs is two-fold. First is that that we are dead in the water if those tax levies were to go away. Second is that I know that people are mad about how much their property taxes cost them, but the reality is that the DD portion of their tax bill is a very small percentage of that bill.

Have a great weekend!

Question of the week

Q: Why should I vote for the "Christie Lane" levy. CLI is a private company now, right?

A: CLI is a private company that provides services to people with developmental disabilities. We are paid for those service by the Ohio Department of DD using 2/3 Medicaid funds + 1/3 local DD levy funds. If HCBDD didn't have the local tax money, they could not use it to draw down the federal Medicaid money.

Your YES vote still matters for Huron County residents with DD!

CLI encourages you to contact our politicians to make sure that they know how important and relevant DD services are to you. The reality is that $.66 out of every dollar spent on people with DD in Ohio comes from federal Medicaid dollars. Your voice matters!
