Have you seen anyone from CLI do something that impressed you? Did we do anything that made you wish we hadn't?

Take 3 minutes and fill out a quick survey to tell us about it. There's a FREE Ohio Lottery Scratch Off ticket in it for you-- and we'll keep it confidential if you want us to.

Sitting Volleyball continues to be much-loved!

(and not just by us)

The Usual--

I feel like I need to give a shout-out to the City of Norwalk's Ernsthausen Center. It is an amazing resource for a city of Norwalk's size to have. The Park & Recreation Department has been an amazing partner over the years to CLI. One of the best examples of this is that they allow CLI to purchase 6 annual passes that we can use to enable individuals with disabilities to take classes, participate in leagues, swim in the pools, or just use the weight room and walking track. Sitting Volleyball is just one more example of what's fun & valuable about this community resource!

I want to continue to remind everyone that the Huron County Board of DD is on the ballot this fall. I believe that it is all of our responsibilities to participate in our US democracy and vote for what we believe in. I also want to remind everyone of how Ohio funds services for people with DD-- residential, day services, and vocational services. When providers like CLI provide a service to a person with DD, we bill the Ohio Department of DD, who then collects more than a third of that amount from the County Board of DD in the county that the person lives in. The reality is that the Medicaid money that pays for CLI and other DD providers services would not be available at all if the local county boards of DD aren't able to supply she local match. I know that it's confusing because all the DD providers are private companies, but these local tax levies matter more than ever!

We haven't made any new progress on our Kenilee Wheelchair Accessibility fundraising so far this week. Please let me know if you know of any potential donors that would like me to come talk to them about what we're trying to do. For anyone interested in making a donation, the Dorn Foundation has offered CLI a "Challenge Grant" that will match up to $15k for money that we raise between September 15 and December 31, 2025! We'll be figuring out a way to put all donors names in the finished space after renovations-- so you'll get full credit...

Have a great weekend!

John

Question of the week

Q: How do I sign up for new services with CLI-- or change what services I am doing?

A: It depends on what services CLI is already authorized for vs. what you would like to do. If you are doing day service with CLI and you just want to change where you are volunteering, or to take a different class, etc-- just talk to CLI staff and we'll coordinate with your SSA to see if they feel that your ISP needs to be revised. If it's a type of service that you are not currently doing with CLI -- or it's extra services like something on the evenings or weekends -- then you probably will need to start with your SSA.

CLI believes that evenings and weekends are much better times to connect with others in the community -- so if you ISP team is on board, you can count on us!

CLI encourages you to contact our politicians to make sure that they know how important and relevant DD services are to you. The reality is that $.66 out of every dollar spent on people with DD in Ohio comes from federal Medicaid dollars. Your voice matters!
