New guy at the Humane Society . . .

We made an old-school, big-army-of-people-group trip to a Guardians game last weekend. It was a good time! We took lots of pictures that will be spread out through this newsetter.

John's Usual --

It was another busy week this week. The weather has been pretty awesome. We were supposed to have one last sailing excursion from the Sandusky Sailing Basin, but unfortunately the adaptive sailing program had some equipment issues that day & we were unable to get out on the lake. Still, we're very grateful for the opportunity and are working with SSC to schedule for next year. We have lots of warm weather left, so we'll be planning other boating trips, including at least 1 island trip to either Put-in-Bay or Kelly's that will be wheelchair accessible.

One final reminder that this year is the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act. We take a lot of this for granted now, but it was a huge leap forward toward access & inclusion for people with any type of disability-- including cognitive disabilities.

We're putting together another CLI apparal order with Nobil Sports-- if you want anything-- let Jimmy know.

Have a nice weekend!

John

What's new in THRIVE?

Michelle is the ADS star of the month of June and Tim is the employee of the month for June.

We have started our mock interviews! Everyone is doing so well! We are taking notes of what we can do better at and will be working on those skills and will perform another round of mock interviews in a few weeks!

The workshop provides a safe space to learn new job task-- both to broaden abilities, but also to see what people like to do-- whether that's big "gross motor" tasks like baling cardboard and boatwrap, or "fine motor" tasks like product assembly.

CLI & FL work together to provide an array of employment training options both in the workshop and out in the community.

We've been really asking everyone to stretch outside their normal jobs & try new tasks.
