John's Usual Excuses & Apologies--
Each week when I get ready to write this update, I try to figure out how to summarize everything that's happened over the past week. A week sure doesn't seem very long-- but trying to recap all of the shifts is harder than it should be.
Kind of like the joke where you try to explain cassette tapes to your kids, which means that you have to explain so many other things that were normal assumptions in the 80's. The world we are in right now is so different from the world we were in February, that it is really hard to compare them.
For the smallish group here at CLI that have been muddling our way through, the evolution seems more-or-less linear. However, I know that for many of you who have been sheltering at home for the past 3 months, the way that CLI is trying to re-open must be pretty confusing. I can't count the number of times that people wind up a conversation about CLI with a "yeah but when can I come back to the workshop?" We get it.
But, the new normal is that we are all going to have to learn to be more flexible and more creative. CLI's mission is the same, and while many of the tools in our box are the same-- there are also many tools that have been taken away for now.
