The best way forward is for each individual to work with CLI & their SSA to design the services that fit what they need. Focus on what works best for you-- not on what CLI services used to look like. The only thing that we know for sure is that there is no going back. But-- if we focus on each individual-- we'll sort it out. For instance-- just because CLI doesn't have enough space in one of our buildings doesn't mean that we can't figure out how to support you for at least 5 hours every day by using a combination of the new STEPS small group activities and also homemaker personal care (HPC) services.
The gritty truth is that CLI is a non-profit business that is currently
NOT
making enough money to support operations. We must redesign services that enough people want and need-- or CLI will not be in business in 2021.
HOWEVER
-- I'm optimistic about our chances.
BUT
-- we need each of our clients to speak up and help design the new programs that meet their needs. Don't be shy about asking for things off the menu. Even if we can't figure out how to do something right away, it is important that we see the want so that we can work toward it.
Finally-- I have started weekly 3pm Monday video updates. I used Facebook Live last week. I think that I'll try Zoom this week. Starting next week, there will be a "Weekly Live Update" link at www.CLIsupports.com. We'll start adding those videos to CLI's Youtube channel as well.
