John's Usual Excuses & Apologies-- Not too much new this week. All of us at CLI are trying to learn this new system. There have been quite a few questions about what we're doing to stay ahead of COVID & how often we are checking staff. I know that the last few newsletters have belabored our new anti-contagion safeguards, but here's a little bit more info: Staff check their own temperature and answer the same invasive questions that everyone else has to at the beginning and end of each shift. We are minimizing all possible staff & space overlap so that if I get infected it doesn't impact anyone outside of my group. Historically, we may not have always been the best cleaners, but now all of us have chapped and and smell at least faintly of hepacide. Keep the questions coming. We want people to feel comfortable-- and there is always room for improvement. It's sometimes hard to see what could be done better from the inside. CLI's income streams have improved a fair amount over the past 3 weeks, but we still are spending more than we're making. Quite a few people continue to shelter in their homes-- and CLI is only paid when we do something for you (and batting our eyelashes at you during a Zoom session typically doesn't count). But, it seems to be turning around bit by bit. There are still a handful of spots available at the workshop, but for those of you who keep calling me to ask when you can come back to the shop to see all your friends-- the answer is probably not in 2020. CLI CAN & WANTS TO HELP YOU do things with your friends, BUT those activities will have to away from the workshop in safe environments. We're going to work on building some events that are a little bit easier for people to jump into, but in order to participate in them you'll need to work with your SSA to get CLI listed in your ISP as a STEPS provider. From James Johnson, GM Last week was a pretty good week for us. We picked up 3 new regular accounts and 5 bulk pickups. The sale of the recycling bins is still happening. They are $20 each. This is truly a bargain for a 95 gallon container.   We also had folks in working on buckets. There were three different assembly projects that were being worked on this week.   We have also all been dealing with the heat lately. As if Covid-19 wasn’t enough. Please remember to dress in a manner that will allow you to stay cool when outside. Also, hydration is extremely important. Drink enough water. There are a lot of serious things that can happen to people when they are exposed to the sun and heat for to long. Pleas do not forget about your pets as well. They can’t simply tell you they need help.   This week we can celebrate the following holidays: Monday: National French Fry day Tuesday: Mac n cheese day Wed: Hot dog day Fri: Peach ice cream day   As always, stay safe, social distance, sear a mask and wash your hands.
