John's Usual Excuses & Apologies--

We're back! Rested and ready to jump in with both feet. We'll still be keeping to our small groups and isolated settings for at least 2 more months.

However, we need your help to build LOTS of fun community-forward activities in close proximity to real, live people. What have you missed most over the past 12 months? I know that Swick is really looking forward to putting together some old-school community rec activities so that we can get lots of people involved.

Don't be afraid to ask for too much. As tough as it is to tell people "no" or "not yet"-- I'd rather have that uncomfortable conversation than not know what's important to you.
As everyone looks forward to expanding what you do with CLI this year, don't forget that all of our services are required to be tied to 1 or more specific outcomes, like learning a new hobby, working on community employment skills, volunteering, meeting new people, etc. Any outcome is fine as long as you can argue (with a straight face) that it is related to a job outside of the workshop, increasing your independence, and/or getting more involved with the community.

If you haven't completed your CLI survey yet, please do this ASAP. CLI was awarded 2 grants from DODD this year and getting client & community feedback is a HUGE requirement. We need lots of honest input. I will be providing more information about both of these grants in future newsletters.

Firelands Local LLC Update:

I know everyone is excited that 2020 is finally in our rear view windows. Firelands got back to work on the 4th and we were greeted with a dead battery in 2 of the 3 vehicles we use. I am sure this is not a sign of things to come for the rest of the year.
 
Production: we completed over 14,000 units this past week. We picked up 10,000 MSDS sheets to fold.
Shred: we shredded 11,000 pounds of paper.
We have also filled our first truckload of shredded material for the year.
 
On 1/6 we had our first Wednesday drop-off of the year. It was a good turnout. We collected 2,184 pounds of material and had 36 customers.
We also booked our first purge of the year.
 
We also welcome back the rest of the CLI crew. We will be able to see some other faces now.

The FREE Good Works Cafe will be back next week to run every Friday at 11:30 am until they run out of food.
