John's Usual Excuses & Apologies-- Another quiet summer week. CLI continues to dial in all of our safety protocols. Please remember that visitors are not allowed in ANY of CLI's hub spaces right now. I know that it's easy to get lazy about this because there have been so few local cases over the past couple of weeks. HOWEVER-- this can change very quickly. Just like seatbelts in cars, nobody thinks that the crash will happen that day. Let's all do our part to make sure that CLI is able to stay open for the people that need us. The Good Works Cafe is picking up steam-- we got almost $90 in donations last week that will go right back into future Good Works. The gang will even deliver for a $20 donation! Just a reminder that there will be NO CLI weekly video update starting this week. Honestly there doesn't seem to be a need for it right now. The one-call system seems to be working now, so we'll go back to using that (together with this newsletter) to keep everyone up to speed. I have scheduled a "Happy Friday" voicemail for next Friday, August 7th, at 4:30 pm as a test. If you do not get this test voice call (or message)-- please either call or email me. Brit & a few friends celebrated her birthday (with the appropriate libations of course) and Kenilee Lanes-- which of course is open on for private reservations-only this summer. We don't to come off as judgey Brit, but we're starting to notice that most of your pictures feature a can of some sort. Ah, well at least you figured out how to drink with the mask . . .

From James Johnson, GM In the month of June we recycled 37.4 tons of paper and cardboard. We helped save 460 trees last month. That is almost an acres worth of trees or 2 city blocks full of trees. I will spare you with some boring math to get the following information: Firelands Local shredded paper help produce 148,392 rolls of toilet paper. The average person uses about 100 rolls of tp each year. Last month we helped 1483 people be comfortable for the next year. What does this mean. It means we need more paper to help even more people take care of business. Please do not be shy about bringing us your paper to be shredded.

A letter from the Huron County Non-Food Bank:

The Non-Food Bank will be giving away basic household necessities on Wednesday, August 19, from 9am to noon at the Monroeville UCC, 29 Chapel Street, Monroeville. We will once again be doing drive-thru only and ask everyone to clear room in their trunk so volunteers can place bags there. The Non-Food Bank is open on the third Wednesday of each month (excl. July) and is for residents of Huron County and is made possible by generous donations from churches, individuals and organizations from our area. The FREE Good Works Cafe will runs every Friday at 11:30 am until they run out of meals. If you or a friend want a delicious meal but cannot get transportation, we can deliver to you for a $20 donation!  *Donations are accepted & 100% go to future Fridays.*
