Week of August 31st, 2020
Jen Swicker was ON HER GAME two weeks ago and sent in these pictures of multiple Jenifers (only Jens?)-- tiptoeing through the sunflowers & riding bikes. If you are looking to find a way to frolic in the outdoors, apparently there's a Jen available to do it with!

It feels only fair to mention that it was an editorial oversight that these pictures didn't make it in last week's issue. You go Jens!
Did you know that CLI will help you shop? Whether for groceries or fashion. We're not to proud to hold your stuff while you try on clothes or too shy to tell you if your butt looks big in those jeans.

Deana & Mark did some shopping last week. Deanna does quite a bit of yard sailing on her own time. Ask her about her new (to her) bowling gear!
From the 16 West Crew:

"You guys are missing out i tabs art class. In this picture you'll find John, Swicker, a unicorn, smurfs, a plane, and a flying butt with red polka dot underwear!"

John's Usual Excuses & Apologies--

Knock on wood, things are going pretty smoothly right now at CLI. We have our new groove set and are all used to masks, wrinkled fingers and the constant if faint smell of bleach.

That being said, we are are stretched thinner than is useful staff-wise. While this helpful in saving money, it makes it hard to get momentum with the new cool stuff we've got on deck.

I do want to make a quick point specifically about the workshop-based services. Everyone knows how few "slots" there are for these services. This makes that service relatively expensive. As an emergency measure, DODD and the Huron County Board of DD are paying a higher rate to support the extra expense. However, this special funding is authorized on a month-by-month basis. Make sure that you are working with your SSA and your team (which includes CLI) to make sure that we're all ready to quickly switch gears if the money changes. Don't panic. There are options with the new STEPS funding and we'll work with you to figure them out. Who knew that social services would involve so much talk about profit & loss?
Immediately below my segment is a Q&A regarding the Huron County Board of DD's (HCBDD) upcoming renewal levy on the ballot this fall. I'd like to push two takeaways regarding
HCBDD. First is a reminder that CLI is 100% independent of HCBDD. The majority of CLI services are paid for by the state of Ohio. BUT-- 40% of that state money comes from local tax dollars. Also, for anyone who doesn't have a waiver 100% of their services (either to CLI or any other provider) is paid for by the local County Board of DD. So, even though CLI & HCBDD are separate-- and the superintendent can no longer choose to fire me or give me a raise-- your support for HCBDD is just as important as it has ever been.

That's all I have for this week. Feel free to call me with questions or suggestions. Enjoy the tail end of summer-- and wash your hands!

Tammy told John & Woody to work on their flip cup skills for a challenge next week.

Confused? Well they were too, but figured it might be a good skill set to have regardless.

How many can you do in a row? Woody hit 3 in a row last week.
