Training Hospitality Employees to Remain Vigilant is Key to Preventing Human Trafficking

National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month is observed each January to call attention to an illegal crime affecting millions of men, women, and children. It’s a perfect occasion to educate employees about how to spot and report the warning signs of human trafficking on lodging property.

The California Lodging Industry Association has teamed up with Traliant, the industry compliance training leader, to provide online Recognizing and Preventing Human Trafficking for Hotels training that helps lodging employees recognizing the warning signs of trafficking activities and report their suspicions.

New CDPH Guidance Rewrites Quarantine and Isolation Periods for California’s Workplaces

When the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) revised their quarantine and isolation guidance on December 27th (here), it kicked off a wave of revisions nationwide that is now hitting California’s workplaces.

On January 6th and 11th, 2022, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) revised their quarantine and isolation guidance (here) and California’s Department of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) issued a revised press release and FAQ’s explaining that CDPH’s revised guidance would apply to California workplaces beginning on January 14, 2022.

Scholarship Application Deadline is Extended to March 1, 2022

Hospitality students will now have a little more time to prepare their applications for scholarships.

Due date for applications is March 1, 2022.
Must live in CA.
GPA minimum 2.5.
Must be enrolled in a four-year California college or university and majoring in a lodging or hospitality-related field.
Must have completed three semesters as a full-time student.
