MTOS revisions: Out of Gauge Surcharge and Hazardous Fees

To: Users of GPA’s Marine Terminal Operator Schedule (“MTOS”) No 5-A, No 10-A and No 11


Effective November 17, 2022, MTO Schedule Rule 34-512 was revised to decrease the Out of Gauge Surcharge fee and eliminate the assessment of the Out of Gauge Surcharge (OOGS) fee on ISO Tanks. Georgia Ports is currently conducting a comprehensive OOGS fee review and may make future revisions to this rule upon the completion of the review.

Subject: Out-of-Gauge Surcharge


The Authority will assess an Out-of-Gauge Surcharge to the Ocean Carrier for cargo that exceeds the normal dimensions of a standard container, flatrack, or platform by length, width, height and/or a combination thereof. $579.00, per container, flatrack, or platform, per use.

MTO Schedule 5-A Rule 34-520 was also revised on November 17, 2022, to change the Hazardous Class Terminal Use Fee and the Hazardous Class Surcharge units of measurement from per TEU to per container. Please see the below revised excerpt from Rule 34-520.

Hazardous Class Surcharge, per container $2,100.00


Applied to Class 1.1-Mass Explosive Hazard, Class 1.2-Projection Hazard,              

Class 1.4 Explosives, and Class 7 (Radioactive Materials)
