CLL SOCIETY:

THIS WEEK

November 1, 2022

SPECIAL FEATURE: Committing to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

"At CLL Society, we believe all individuals impacted by chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) deserve equitable access to quality education, support, and care."

We know there is much work still to do to achieve equity in care for every individual living with CLL/SLL, regardless of their identity. CLL Society is working tirelessly to break down barriers to care and improve the lives of all impacted by CLL/SLL. Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Values Statements were developed to demonstrate our commitment and we promise to hold ourselves accountable and keep learning together.

WHAT'S NEW IN CLL/SLL

ASCO 2022: Lisaftoclax, a Novel BCL-2 Inhibitor in Patients with Relapsed/Refractory CLL

Lisaftoclax is an experimental BCL-2 inhibitor similar to venetoclax that is being tested in clinical trials to determine if a faster ramp-up in dosing is possible. Venetoclax is currently the only approved BCL-2 inhibitor for CLL/SLL, but its required slow ramp-up can be inconvenient and in some cases insufficient for patients.

LIVING WITH CLL/SLL

New Watch & Wait Support Group

CLL Society is launching two Watch & Wait Support Groups to accommodate the high demand for this group. CLL/SLL patients and caregivers are welcome to join either group, which are named Eastern and Western based on time zone convenience. The first meetings will take place in December and the groups will meet on a bi-monthly basis. We encourage people to also join a local CLL Society Support Group with members who have treatment experience for their CLL/SLL, as there is great value in learning from people who are on or have received different treatments.
