Northpark Drive Scheduled Closure: March 5-7

HOUSTON – Council Member Fred Flickinger would like to make Kingwood area residents aware that Northpark Drive at the railroad tracks will be completely closed on Wednesday, March 5th, Thursday, March 6th, and Friday, March 7th. The closure will allow Union Pacific Railroad to install new rail tracks for the expansion of the roadway. Northpark Drive will be closed in BOTH DIRECTIONS during these three days. Contractors will construct a U-turn just before the track closure so that people can get to/from nearby businesses, such as Dunkin’ Donuts. Union Pacific Railroad has only two construction crews that rotate between construction sites throughout their territory in the United States which dictates their schedule for the work on their railroad tracks.

As a result of the construction activities, please be aware of flagmen and orange traffic cones that will be in place on-site to help with traffic flow through the construction zone,. Residents will have access to driveways and sidewalks at all times but may experience an increase in noise levels due to trucks and equipment in the area.

As a reminder, the next TIRZ Board meeting will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 8:00 AM at the Kingwood Community Center. Every TIRZ Board meeting is open to the public. Visit the LHRA website for more information on the Northpark Drive Overpass Project and view the 2025 Board of Directors Calendar.
