CLPCCD Foundation Relaunches with Revitalized Board and Online Fundraiser Ahead of 60th Anniversary

(Dublin, Calif., October 13, 2026) — The Foundation for the Chabot–Las Positas Community College District (FCLPCCD) is reintroducing itself to the community following a strategic revitalization effort that has brought new leadership, expanded partnerships, and a renewed focus on supporting students and workforce opportunity across southern Alameda County.

The foundation now has a reenergized board of directors composed of regional business and community leaders, along with student representatives from both Chabot College and Las Positas College, strengthening connections between the district, local employers, and the communities the colleges serve. The board seeks to advance initiatives that support students and expand workforce training opportunities across the region.

Ahead of its 60th anniversary, which the foundation will celebrate in 2027, a new online fundraiser has launched in partnership with the Community Health and Education Foundation (CHEF). With the support of CHEF, the FCLPCCD is seeking to raise $30,000 to provide timely assistance to students for tuition, transportation, food, childcare, textbooks, required tools and supplies, certification and exam fees, and short-term housing needs. This support can help students stay enrolled, complete their education, pursue their career goals, and build greater financial stability for themselves and their families. The matching grant campaign could net the FCLPCCD $45,000 if the fundraising goal is reached.

“The renewed energy and leadership of this board reflect a strong commitment from our community to invest in student success,” said Kailesh Karavadra, chair of the CLPCCD Foundation Board of Directors. “Community colleges are central to the economic vitality of our region, and the Foundation creates opportunities for community partners to help expand educational and career pathways for the students we serve.”

Distinct Role Supporting Both Colleges

The FCLPCCD serves a districtwide role that complements the work of the two college-based foundations. The Friends of Chabot College Foundation and the Las Positas College Foundation focus on fundraising and programs that support their respective campuses. In contrast, the District Foundation supports initiatives that benefit the entire district, including regional workforce partnerships, basic needs, and opportunities that serve students across both colleges.

“The collaboration between our three foundations reflects the spirit of partnership that defines our district,” said Chancellor Ronald P. Gerhard. “Together, we are building stronger connections between our colleges, our community, and regional employers so that more students can access the education and training that leads to meaningful careers.”

A Major Driver of Regional Opportunity

The Chabot–Las Positas Community College District serves more than 34,000 students annually through Chabot College in Hayward and Las Positas College in Livermore, offering degrees, certificates, transfer pathways, and career education programs aligned with regional workforce needs.

According to the district’s latest economic impact analysis, CLPCCD generates $801.2 million in total annual economic impact and supports more than 7,700 jobs across the region. Alumni working throughout the local economy contribute $490.7 million in added regional income each year. The district also awards more than 3,300 degrees and nearly 2,700 certificates annually, preparing students for transfer to four-year universities or entry into high-demand careers.

With a revitalized board and strengthened collaboration across the district’s philanthropic community, the FCLPCCD is inviting community partners to help expand opportunities for students throughout the East Bay region.

Community members interested in supporting these efforts can learn more about the campaign or make a contribution through CHEF’s online fundraising page.
