Issue 1, 2023
A Message from Teresa
Spring is here and we can once again get outside and spend time in nature and in our neighbourhoods, although there will be mud! In this edition of our e-bulletin you will see again that we are making things happen and connecting to community more and more as COVID continues to fade further behind us.

I was thinking about a camp song from my childhood through which we, as everyone does at camp, tried to outdo each other for who could shout the loudest “NO” when the song offered the words, 'hide it under a bushel.' Slightly distracted by the shouting competition, the words had been echoing in my head, 'Hide it under a bushel, no, I am going to let it shine!'

We all have 'This little light of Mine,' which only belongs to us - our mix of talents, gifts, opinions, skills and experience. This quarter has seen the creation of a Diversity Committee, with the main mandate of welcoming everyone’s light and creating a space in which all people of CLTH can feel comfortable to bring their whole selves to what they do. Another highlight has been the Coordinator Day during which almost all of the adult service coordinators could meet and have training to ensure that they are leading with their light in the teams that they serve.

All across our three communities there have been great stories of trips, plans for activities and learning, meeting with friends, trying new experiences. The bright light of being proud of trying new things, having fun and accomplishing goals has been shining brightly all over.

COVID is fading, but we have had some outbreaks and illness in the last few months, there is a great deal of patience and creativity needed to keep walking the tightrope between wide open and still cautious. My thanks to everyone connected to CLTH for their support and help to get through the last few months of these measures.

It is our greatest strength that we are a diverse and robust agency that touches so many lives; we get to lean on each other’s light when we face challenges and changes and share in each other’s bright moments as they happen all over the place. There is no bushel basket in the world big enough to cover this amount of light.

Teresa Jordan, Executive Director
It's been awesome getting out and about on trips and adventures, both around home and away!
