It is the glorious summertime, and we are busy. There are trips, excursions and tours planned for so many people across our three communities. We are taking summer seriously now that the cold weather is gone and COVID restrictions are moving more out of the way. There is so much to celebrate as we work together on new and exciting projects.
- Our Community Living Trent Highlands mentoring program, through which people who want to eventually try a new and different position can seek a mentor and set goals, has launched.
- We have an initiative with Electron Medication Administration Records, and are starting a trial of this new record-keeping system in two of our Lindsay homes.
- We are working to be completely open for all our CONNEX programs come this September, and are ready to offer a wide range of activities to people seeking fun, company and learning.
- We are finally back to some of the fun activities of pre-COVID days - the staff family picnic, the United Way ball tournament and our all-staff meeting in October.
We face challenges great and small; the most pressing right now is the labour shortage in all sectors. We have good, competitive jobs and keep on trying different ways to attract applicants. Help us to spread the word not only that Community Living is a great place to work, but that our field offers rewarding careers for young people. We offer a lifetime of making a difference to people, the community and society.
The big news for 2022 is that this year is the five-year anniversary of the creation of Community Living Trent Highlands, and we are planning to celebrate! In September we will be holding a big celebration at the biggest party venue we could find - the Lindsay Armoury. Ours has been a glorious journey so far, and we are in the mood to celebrate everything - the triumphs, the challenges, the memories.
The great part about being an agency that serves three communities is that we continue to learn from each other, and we embrace the opportunity to learn all that the three communities have to offer. Now that restrictions are lifting, we are getting re-acquainted with each other; we are on the move again, making community connections and celebrating summer wherever and whenever we can.

Congratulations to everyone who turned out to support the Peterborough Dragonboat Festival this year. Our team, the Community Living Trent Highlands Dragon Our Tails, placed first in their category. The Dragonboat Festival is an important fundraiser for the Peterborough Regional Hospital Foundation, which supports cancer screening, diagnosis & treatment in our local hospital.
