Advocacy Efforts

Join us to make connections, meet new people, and create a more accessible Worcester.

“Incredible - is all I can say to describe my experience with fellow community organizers and activists at CLW. What a great diverse group of motivated people. I’m proud to be among them, helping to make things better for others” -Steve W.

Make an impact on affordable accessible housing and accessible transportation for you and those you know. We have told stories about the importance of accessible affordable housing to local politicians and proposed solutions.

You don’t know how strong you really are until being strong is the only option you have. It’s not a short term fight it’s a long-term fight. Eventually we will get what we need. - Jason

We try and be visible and show up for people with access needs. We show up to public events and share our lived experience.

Success Story

My name is Rebecca Vancott I was referred to Center for Living and working after having a massive hematoma and a stroke. I became jobless and homeless due to my illness. Maria Delvalle was assigned to my case during the pandemic, she worked so hard to help me find a place for me to heal physically and emotionally at the YWCA. Maria always called to check up on me and to give me words of hope. Maria also spoke to my aunt to ensure proper placement for me. My aunt was very happy with the work that Maria has done with me. Maria help me to apply in different housing Authority and at the moment I’m number 4 in the waiting list. Maria never stopped she was always willing to help and chat with me when I was feeling down. Recently I was able to meet Maria face to face at the Out to Lunch event and I got very emotional that I was able to meet the woman that helped me during the worst time of my life. I will forever be grateful for having Maria Delvalle in my life, she was there for me with kindness, respect and love.

Thank you,

Rebecca Vancott.
