Summer Camp 2020 COVID-19 Update
Dear CMC Families,
We are excited to welcome you all to camp in just about 100 days. As you know, the health and safety of all our campers and staff is of the utmost importance to us here at CMC.  Camp Mountain Chai, together with our partners in the summer camp industry, is currently planning to operate fully all programs this summer.   We are well ahead of previous summers in enrollment, and we expect some cabins to be sold out soon.  With coronavirus on everyone’s mind, we wanted to let you know what steps we are taking to ensure that we are prepared.
First, we are remaining informed by receiving timely updates from the  U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  as well as from the California and San Bernardino Departments of Health. We recognize that there are many different sources of information about coronavirus online and on social media; however, these sources are sometimes unverified, not based on science and may be unintentionally alarming. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we are relying on only official sources as well as through the professional guidance offered by the American Camp Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and local health officials.
Second, leadership along with our medical team are reviewing all of our protocols and meeting on a regular basis to address the situation.  We have increased our cleaning and sanitation regimen, and we are also confident in our basic hygiene procedures; building, bunk and bathroom sanitation; our plans to keep you informed; and the additional training and orientation we have provided to our staff. As we did last year, we will continue to give each camper a brief health screening and temperature check prior to boarding the bus to camp.  We are also confident that our experience dealing with similar issues, such as swine flu in 2009, that affected our camp community over the years will serve us well as we prepare for any contingencies that may arise.
It is understandable to be concerned and have questions as this is a rapidly evolving situation.  Please look for continued updates in the coming days and weeks as we prepare for another amazing summer up the tall green mountain.
We are looking forward to spending our 15 th  summer with you!
