Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace

Increasingly today, the buzzwords of #Inclusion and #Diversity pop up, but what exactly do those concepts mean? How does my company know I'm doing the right thing? How can I access the positive ROI that comes from comprehensive recruitment and retention policies? Accessible workplace policies are good for business. Companies that excel at disability employment and inclusion are four times more likely to deliver higher shareholder returns than their competitors, according to a study by Accenture released in Oct. 2019. We are rethinking the working environment because of COVID-19, and companies have an opportunity to re-invent their teams and overhaul how that work gets done, and by whom. Where do you start when considering these new workforce opportunities?

PG County Child Care Provider Recovery Program Application period closes Friday, October 2nd!
The Child Care Provider Recovery Program provides grants to child care centers that have had to close their doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many child care programs in the County had to close its doors due to lack of revenue and newly established state and local health and safety guidelines. Unfortunately, these closures resulted in a substantial decrease in the number of available, quality child care seats for Prince George’s County families.

Child Care providers in Prince George’s County may apply for grants to cover reopening expenses through the Child Care Provider Recovery Program. Eligible child care providers may receive a grant up to $20,000 for licensed child care centers and up to $3,000 for registered family child care homes.

County Executive Pittman Releases Draft General Development Plan for Public Comment
A Roadmap to Anne Arundel County
Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman released the draft of Plan2040, the county’s General Development Plan (GDP), for public comment and review. The County Executive made the remarks at the Brooklyn Park Library, where he was joined by Planning and Zoning Director, Steven Kaii-Ziegler, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Land Use, Lori Rhodes, and members of the County Executive’s Youth Advisory Council.

Public comment will be open for 45 days, through November 15, 2020. The document can be downloaded at www.aacounty.org/Plan2040. Plan2040 is the Countywide plan to guide future land use decisions, and lays out an ambitious vision for a greener, more inclusive Anne Arundel County over a 20-year timeframe. All master plans and development regulations adopted subsequently by the County must be consistent with the goals, policies and recommendations of the GDP.
