CMC Announces Kristi Simon as Next President and CEO
 The Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce announced that Kristi Simon will serve as the Chamber’s next President and CEO, effective April 20, 2020.

Ms. Simon has significant experience in leading private business, nonprofit and chamber organizations, currently serving as Director of Operations at Community Action Council of Howard County. Ms. Simon brings to the Central Maryland Chamber diverse experience leading regionally-focused business organizations, guiding financial and brand transformations, and successfully advocating for business in local and state arenas.

Overview: Representatives from the Maryland Department of Commerce and the Maryland Department of Labor will provide an overview of the state's COVID-19 business relief programs, information and updates on applying for unemployment insurance, as well as existing programs and resources, as listed on the “Maryland Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information for Business” webpage.

SECU Commits $400K in COVID-19
Relief Efforts
Linthicum-based SECU, Maryland’s largest state chartered credit union, announced a commitment of up to $200,000 in hardship grants for its members through the SECU MD Foundation and $200,000 for COVID-19 community relief efforts. Community relief will focus on supporting key areas: health care workers, childcare and education, and nonprofit organizations.

To provide additional support to those members who are experiencing a financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, SECU will begin offering $500 hardship grants to its members, up to a maximum of $200,000 from the SECU MD Foundation. Members who are in a position to make a donation will also have an opportunity to give back to fellow members through the SECU MD Foundation, with the Foundation offering to match up to $100,000, for a total of $300,000 in grants available.
AAEDC is HIRING!
The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) is currently hiring for a full time Business Consultant on a contractual basis for a period of three months.

The Business Consultant (Counselor) will be responsible for advising client businesses on the latest resources available to COVID-19 impacted businesses, particularly providing guidance on the application process for available state and federal loan and grant programs. Other responsibilities include providing entrepreneurs with general business information and assistance on such matters as: the development of long term strategic goals and objectives; expansion of personnel and human resources; management of finances to ensure stability and growth through financing from a variety of sources; and guidance on strategies to increase profit and sales revenues.
