Hear about the resources available to guide and support your efforts so you can compete with greater confidence in the federal arena.

Our special guest is Helga Weschke, Director of Federal Business Relations in the Office of Military & Federal Affairs at the Maryland Department of Commerce.

Who should attend? Small, minority, women, and veteran business owners interested in learning more about how to navigate the federal procurement system.
Free to attend.
Energy Co-op – Does it Work?
The Energy Co-op program, a members only benefit, saves members money on their utility bill through the process of aggregated buying pools. Unlike programs offered through mail, phone or door to door sales, the Energy co-op program obtains the most competitive rates by combining usage from members in over twenty Chambers of Commerce. Rates obtained are lower than what an individual can obtain on their own. The program is available for members with commercial and residential utility bills. It is also available for member’s family and staff. Aggregated buying pools are created each month, but the two major campaigns are spring and fall. The recent fall campaign just concluded, and the combined savings was $889,547.26 annually for the next three years. Does the energy co-op program work? You bet it does! Military Appreciation Night
Maryland Black Bears
Saturday, December 7th | 7:45PM
The Maryland Black Bears (MBB) honor and celebrate those who serve America through participation in events on base at Fort Meade and with discounts for every home game. On one night each season, the MBB focus on highlighting active duty, reserve & guard forces, veterans and retirees in Central Maryland so MBB, fans, and sponsors can show sincere appreciation.

Via fundraising among MBB fans and sponsors, they look to distribute up to 100 free “Seats for Soldiers, distributed by Fort Meade’s MWR. The tickets include an exclusive, limited edition coin designed for the occasion.

Pre-game features a color guard representing all branches of the services and National Anthem singer from the Army. Additionally, MBB invite both teams and active, reserve, guard and retired personnel to join them on ice to hold the 15’x25’ American Flag on Center Ice during the singing of the National Anthem. The Star Spangle Banner will be sung by a selected service member.

Monies raised through a portion of ticket sales, specialty jersey auctions, in-game fundraising and sponsorships will be donated to USO Metro. MBB's goal is to raise $5,000. Currently, they're at $3,500.

If you would like to help MBB meet their goal towards $5,000, you can sponsor Seats for Soldiers for as little as $25 or a company sponsorship for as low as $500. If interested please contact Harrison Hascoe at 917-583-6523.

Inclement Weather Policy
Because the Central Maryland Chamber serves members in several counties, the following inclement weather policy has been established:

If any one of the three county school systems (Anne Arundel, Howard, Prince George’s) closes due to inclement weather, all chamber activities for the day will be cancelled.

If any one of the three county school systems has a 2 hour delay, all chamber activities prior to noon will be cancelled.

If any one of the three county school systems closes early due to weather, all chamber evening activities will be cancelled.
