DIRECTOR'S NOTE - Busy Year-End Season
|
Thank you CMCS PTO for organizing a fun-filled day at the beach for Beach Blast. Watching the students work together in their color groups gave me such joy. Collaborative work is a large part of our curriculum and it was lovely to see each student apply the skills they have learned in the classroom at an out-of-school event. It was also wonderful to see the kids cheering each other on. As Montessorians we believe in working together for the betterment of one's self and others without praise and rewards. I think the PTO did a great job of balancing the competitive nature of the Beach Blast with the Montessori philosophy of emphasizing the process, not the reward. I especially liked the sandcastle competition because each group was able to share their unique design story with me. Childhood is such a creative time in life and events like the sandcastle competition allow students to exercise their creative spirits. I would like to personally thank Mel Nordstrom, Christine Kaulback, Rachel Tomovski, and Robyn Jones.
The fun continued Tuesday night with our Lower Elementary "Go Fish!" performance, which was so enjoyable! For starters, I was blown away by each student's unique and handmade costume. CMCS sure has a lot of talented families. I just love watching the students come into their own as actors on stage. The students memorized their lines, made eye contact with the audience, and projected their voices. I think my favorite characters in the show were the crabs. If you missed Tuesday's performance you can find the entire performance on our
Facebook page (Thank you, Ms. Kristy!).
Wednesday, we had a special guest at school. Her name is Elizabeth Scarborough and she performs nightly for Legends in Concert as Taylor Swift. The students were so excited to sing along to some of their favorite pop songs before lunch. Be sure to ask your child what his favorite was.
Please check the CMCS calendar frequently as this busy year-end season continues with events like Eat, Play, Golf this weekend at the Founder's Club.
It is such a pleasure to serve your children each day. I feel blessed to be a member of this close-knit Montessori community.
Kindly,
Dr. Hunt

A NOTE ABOUT LUNCHES
All accounts should be paid in full with the WMS cafeteria. If you have an outstanding balance, please send it in asap. It would be helpful to send in the remainder of monies needed to get you through May 31st.
Students who do not have money in their lunch accounts are unable to make "milk only" purchases. The system does not allow it. Also, please encourage your student to keep track of their ID card. Several ID cards have gone missing, which is causing issues in the lunch line. The first ID card is free, replacements are $5 per ID card.
