CME Videos on Monkeypox Now Available for FAFP/AAFP Members

AAFP Senior Vice President for Education, Inclusiveness and Physician Well-Being Margot Savoy, M.D., M.P.H., has recorded a 15-minute presentation, “Emerging Infections Update: Monkeypox Virus,” for family physicians. The video, available on the Academy’s Monkeypox webpage, addresses a number of issues related to the outbreak, including:

  • an overview of monkeypox virus and an update on the outbreak in the United States and elsewhere;
  • an outline on the clinical course of monkeypox virus infection; and
  • diagnosis and management of monkeypox virus infection, including prevention and isolation strategies.

The presentation also contains links to resources from the AAFP, the CDC and other organizations.
AAFP's Webinar on Monkeypox - Tuesday, August 9
On Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. CT, AAFP President Sterling Ransone, M.D., will join Julie Wood, M.D., M.P.H., the Academy’s senior vice president for research, science and health of the public, and Jonathan Temte, M.D., Ph.D., M.S., in a virtual town hall on monkeypox that will allow members to claim up to 1.0 AAFP Prescribed CME credits. Dr. Temte, a past chair of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices who currently serves on the agency’s Board of Scientific Counselors, previously participated in a Q&A on monkeypox with AAFP News in July.
