Honoring Our Past
Inspiring Our Future

From the President

Cynthia Eversole

It’s less than a month away that we can Honor the Past and Inspire the Future at our 2024 CMEA Clinic/Conference. Less than one month away(!!) and I cannot wait to see everyone coming together to share and grow. Be sure that you have the following lined up so you don’t miss it!

  • Register!
  • Secure your absence with the school.
  • Schedule your substitute.
  • Make travel plans.
  • Pack comfortable shoes and water for everything you do.
  • Join in the fun!

The excitement starts as soon as Wednesday evening and is jam-packed with inspiring sessions through Saturday. We will have over twenty K-12 student and collegiate performances to enjoy. Your Council Chairs have been working tirelessly to ensure that your needs are met with exceptional national presenters addressing vital topics and our own talented Colorado educators will present sessions that address your pressing issues. Don’t forget that it is important to register for a certificate so that you may use it toward license renewal with the Colorado Department of Education.

January 24th-27th will be a time to reflect on where we have been and where will go as a profession. Don’t miss it!

From the Executive Director

William Kohut

Happy New Year CMEA!!

For the 2024 CMEA Conference, the registration process will continue to be more streamlined and quicker. If you missed this process last year no one waited in line for more than 3-5 minutes. Did you miss early bird registration (August- October) or Pre-registration (November – December) for the CMEA Conference? Don’t worry; you can still register online and avoid having to register at the last minute using the “on the spot” module. Regular registration is now open until Saturday, January 13.

Click here to complete your registration.

What happens if you miss this deadline? On Sunday, January 14th an “On The Spot” registration module will open on the CMEA website. You will use this form to register for the conference. You can use this module to complete your registration up to the time you arrive at the conference or when you arrive. You can pay by credit card or receive an invoice and pay by check or cash at the registration desk. If you use this system to register by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 23rd and have paid by credit card, you will proceed to the completed registration pick-up area to pick up your conference badge without standing in line. If you pay by check or cash, you will move to the “On-The Spot” registration area.

What happens if I need to renew my membership or add an attendance certificate? To renew your membership, you will use the NAfME online module or through the CMEA “On-The Spot” Module for a higher processing fee. It is best to renew your membership by visiting NAfME at this link https://nafme.org/join-renew/ . Ensure you renew before arriving at the conference and bring confirmation of your renewal to the conference. If you want to add an attendance certificate, you can make this choice up to 11:00 am on Saturday, January 28th.

Invitations to Join the New CMEA Mobile APP

Invitations to join the new CMEA Mobile App will be emailed to all registered conference attendees on Sunday, January 14th. An email will also be sent on January 22nd to all those who register between January 13th and 21st. This email will contain instructions on setting up the new CMEA Mobile App on your devices. The new mobile App will also contain the full conference schedule.

Registration confirmation emails

Registration confirmation emails will be sent to all attendees on Friday, January 19th. This email will contain important information about the conference. Make sure to review this information before you arrive at the conference.

From the President-Elect

Casey Cropp

Greetings to all of you from an unusually warm Chicago! I’m writing this just two days before Christmas as several music educators are attending the Midwest Clinic, as is a tradition for so many!

I hope you are planning to attend our upcoming Colorado Music Educators Association Clinic/Conference! It’s such an amazing opportunity to reconnect, recharge, and be encouraged along with your fellow music educators. There are many incredible performances and clinics planned, and the Bee is anxiously awaiting your arrival!!

You will be receiving an email with the opportunity to vote for the President-Elect, as well as the CMEA Even District Representatives for General Music Council, Vocal Music Council, and Instrumental Music Council. You should expect that email on January 2nd with the window to complete your ballot up until January 15th at 11:55pm.

Your vote enables CMEA to have great representation in order to plan and put on future CMEA Conference events that will best meet each of your needs as a professional!

Congratulations on all that you are providing to music students across Colorado and best wishes as you begin your second semester! Let’s make it a spectacular year!!
