From the Executive Director
William Kohut
On behalf of the CMEA Board and State Assembly, thank you—from the bottom of our hearts—for the extraordinary work you do every single day.
We see you. We see the long hours, the late nights, the tired eyes, and the unshakable dedication. This time of year is especially demanding—with concerts, recitals, final performances, and a seemingly endless list of responsibilities. Yet through it all, you continue to give everything you have to your students, pouring your energy, creativity, and heart into every note, every rehearsal, every moment.
You are not just educators—you are mentors, artists, and champions of something profoundly human. Music education is unlike any other field: you hand over the final product to your students, trusting them to carry the torch. And somehow, through your guidance, they shine. You lead them through pieces they never imagined they could perform. You help them find their voice, their courage, their rhythm. You teach them to collaborate, to listen, to express emotion through sound—and in doing so, you give them beauty, meaning, and sometimes even healing.
Your love for music is evident in every classroom, every concert hall, every student’s smile. And your compassion is what transforms your teaching into something truly magical. Because of you, countless young people now carry a love of music that will last a lifetime.
From all of us at CMEA: thank you. Thank you for your brilliance, your resilience, your artistry, and your heart.
As summer approaches, we hope you find time to rest, to reflect, and to feed your own soul through music. You’ve earned every moment.
