New Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options Available

Want a healthier lifestyle? MaineGeneral Gastroenterology is now offering three new non-surgical weight-loss procedures. Performed endoscopically, meaning there’s no incisions or scarring, the procedures focus on making the stomach smaller so patients feel full sooner and longer. Most patients go home the same day and can be back to work in two to three days. Joan Kheder, MD, MPH, is the first physician in Maine to offer these procedures. To learn more, visit www.mainegeneral.org/nonsurgical-weight-loss or call 207-621-4600.

KVCC Highlights Entrepreneurship Through Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan Funding
Kennebec Valley Community College is currently offering a new Business Entrepreneurship training class funded through the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan grant funds. There was an overwhelming response to the training, with over 100 applicants. Twenty-two individuals were selected based on the grant eligibility requirements and business plan ideas. Students are learning what it takes to operate a small business in Maine including developing a business plan, marketing, finances, and finishing with a pitch competition. A new cohort will start in June 2024. Trainings like this and more, funded through Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan (MJRP), Harold Alfond Foundation, and Maine Quality Centers make training for individuals and businesses accessible and affordable. For more information on this or other training programs in trades, healthcare, or commercial driving, visit our website at www.kvcc.me.edu/workforce.
