Caring for Ourselves. Caring for Others.
|
|
If you spent any time listening to the radio, or surfing social media sites over the past week, you'll probably know that January 25 was #BellLetsTalk Day. An initiative of Bell Canada, the day encourages straight, open talk about mental health - encouraging awareness and reducing stigma. At CMHA Middlesex we observed hundreds of community members bravely telling their stories with the hope of allowing others to do the same. We commend everyone who reached out courageously, or supported those who did.
For those of you who would like to learn more about mental health, about CMHA Middlesex services or about how to help someone who is living with mental illness, this newsletter is full of ideas.

Rethinking Our Online Presence
|
|
|
Our website welcomes more than 57,000 different visitors a year. Most visit via a desktop computer, but every month we get more mobile users. They are looking for jobs, they are looking for crisis services, and they want to know how to get started with CMHA Middlesex.
The more we learn about our visitors, the more we see the need to update the online experience we offer. Next month, CMHA Middlesex will launch an updated website that is easier to navigate, more action oriented and more functional for mobile and tablet users. It will also incorporate both the My Sisters' Place and the Impact Junk Solutions sites. Donate. Learn. Volunteer. Get Started. It's easier at

You may recall that CMHA Middlesex launched The Support Line on November 30, 2016. In order to do this, we had to recruit and train more than 100 volunteers in order to adequately staff the new 24/7 service.
We're pleased to share that due to the dedication of these incredibly passionate volunteers, more than 1,700 calls have been answered.
Do you know someone who needs some additional support? The number is 519-601-8055.
- Number of Calls Between November 30 - January 12: 1,753
- Current number of volunteers: 105
- Top 3 reasons for calls: isolation/loneliness, relationship problems and symptoms of a serious mental illness.
- More calls come from: 65 - 74 year olds than any other age bracket. This is followed by 25 - 34 year olds
