Information Bulletin for CMP Rimfire Sporter Participants

2019 NATIONAL RIMFIRE SPORTER MATCH

We are looking forward to seeing you at 2019 CMP National Rimfire Sporter Match at Camp Perry on Sunday, July 21 st . Information in this bulletin will help you prepare for the match.

Preparing for the Match : You need to bring your own .22 cal. Rimfire rifle(s)  and ammunition . Special target shooting equipment, shooting jackets or shooting gloves are not permitted, but feel free to bring a spotting telescope and ground cloth or shooting mat. You will be shooting on a grass firing point on Viale Range.  It is strongly urged that you wear hearing and eye protection. Please make sure you bring your ear and eye protection. The weather is always changing at Camp Perry; be prepared for any type of weather. 

Welcome Center / In-Processing: All match participants  must check in at the National Matches Welcome Center when first arriving at Camp Perry. Even if you arrive on the day of the match, you must go to the Welcome Center first. It will be open from 12:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, 20 July and 6:00 AM-12:00 PM on Sunday, 21 July. The Welcome Center is located in CMP Headquarters, Bldg. 3 (last building on right before the ranges). Parking is located in the lot on the left side of the road across from Bldg. 3. During check in you will: complete a Post Locator Form, sign or confirm your signing of a notarized Eligibility Affidavit, confirm your match entry information, receive your competitor labels, receive your Rimfire Sporter Match T- Shirt, receive your Firing Point Assignment, and pick up a National Matches Welcome Packet. Any shooters who wish to fire together or on the same point on different relays must check-in together.

Rifle Inspection/Capstone Precision Group Ammo Donation:   We will have rifle inspection on  Saturday, 20 July from 12:00-5:00 PM at the CMP Headquarters Armory Bldg. 3 . Rifle inspection on Sunday, 21 July will be at the big tent on Viale Range from 7:00 AM-1:00 PM .  All scorecards must be filed out with competitor labels before bringing your guns to the table for rifle inspection. You will have your trigger weighed (must lift 3 lbs.) and a weight check (7.5 lbs. max). After passing inspection your scorecard will be stamped. Capstone Precision Group has donated 50 rounds of SK smallbore ammo for each competitor in the National Rimfire Sporter match (1 box per competitor, not per entry). You are not required to use this ammo in the match.  

Rimfire Sporter Clinic:  A clinic on Rimfire sporter rules, match procedures and shooting techniques will be held at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Attendance at the clinic is optional, but anyone who is new to Rimfire Sporter is encouraged to attend. Every competitor is welcome to attend.  

Match Squadding & Firing Schedule:  There are four relays scheduled on Viale Range. Relays will have safety briefings at  8:15 AM, 10:15 AM, 12:15 PM and 2:15 PM. All relays will be mixed with semi-auto and manually-operated rifles on the same relay. All competitors entered in the match were assigned relays based on squadding preference requests in your entries and the date/time your entries were submitted. We were able to accommodate all relay requests for entries. The National Rimfire Squadding assignments are posted on the CMP web site at  http://thecmp.org/wp-content/uploads/RimfireSquadding.pdf . You will receive your firing point assignments when you check-in.
Targets & Target Handling:   On match day, you must prepare your targets for the match .  Pull seven (7) targets from the target wagon (if you are shooting 2 relays, pull (14) targets) . Place your competitor labels on the  upper left hand corners of each target.  You must also fill out the box below your competitor label and circled your class and write your relay and firing point number. If you are entered in two events make sure you mark your targets accordingly. Place your stage labels for Prone-Slow, Prone-Rapid, Sit/Kneel-Slow, Sit/Kneel-Rapid, Standing-Slow, and Standing-Rapid on the right side of your target next to the scoring box. When your relay is called to the firing line, you will be responsible for placement of targets:  STANDING SLOW top left with STANDING RAPID top right, SITTING SLOW middle left and SITTING RAPID middle right, SIGHTER bottom left and PRONE RAPID, bottom right.  Place your  PRONE SLOW on the ground until after sighters. Once you finish sighters, you will go down range and replace your  PRONE SLOW in the SIGHTER spot (bottom left).

Shooter Shuttles : This year’s match will be held on Viale range close to the 400 yard line. Shooter shuttles will be in operation to transport shooters to and from the parking lots and firing line. 

Scoring and Results:  Targets will be scored on the range by competitors and CMP scoring officials.  Targets will be posted on the range and competitors can view them after scoring is complete.  Results will be posted on the CMP Competitor Tracker website at:  ct.thecmp.org/nmrimfireresults .  

Competitor Achievement Medals:   Once scores are posted approximately 45 minutes at the conclusion of each relay, competitors who earn gold, silver or bronze achievement medals can pick up their medals on the range. There will be a photo presentation area set up for those competitors who would like their medals presented. CMP staff members will be on hand to present medals. 

CMP Cookout: The CMP Cookout will be held for all Rimfire Competitors at Building 3, Welcome Center starting at 5:00pm.  The award Plaques for the Rimfire Matches will be award at the CMP Welcome Center at 6:00pm. The cookout is free for everyone entered in the match. Extra Tickets will be sold for $10.00 each (see Vera Snyder). There will be limited seating inside so bring your chairs to sit outside under the overhang in front of building 3.  

Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center: The range will be open from 4:00-8:00PM on Saturday and 4:00-8:00PM on Sunday. Open public shooting is available along with several National Match Air Gun Events. Come cool off and enjoy a little indoor air gun fun. Rental equipment and pellets are available at the range for a small fee.
