CMP Junior Rifle Camps Return to Ranges in 2021

After going virtual in 2020, the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) Junior Rifle Summer Camps are returning to an in-person format in 2021. Running from May to August, the 10-week schedule includes an assortment of camps and clinics for high-school age (9-12 grade) junior athletes and their adult leaders on intermediate and advanced marksmanship skills through various exercises and demonstrations.

Kirschenmann, Utley Set Records at CMP's Talladega 600

TALLADEGA, Alabama - Reaching a new record score at the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) Talladega 600 "A Southern Classic" rifle and pistol event was Kyle Kirschenmann, 56, of Tellico Plain, Tennessee, with an outstanding score of 392-9x in the M16 Match. Kirschenmann surpassed the previous record of 385-11x (set in 2015) with perfect scores of 100 in three of the four stages fired in the competition, which accompanies the educational Marksmanship 101 course.

USA Shooting Wraps Up Winter Airgun Event at CMP's Air Gun Ranges

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, USA Shooting, with the help of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), hosted the 2020 Winter Airgun Championships (WAG) in December. The event spanned three days at the CMP's air gun ranges in Anniston, Alabama, and Port Clinton, Ohio, simultaneously.

The Granbury Marine Corps JROTC rifle team of Granbury, Texas, claimed the STATE title at the 2020-21 Civilian Marksmanship Program Three Position Air Rifle Championships on January 30, 2021 hosted at the Granbury High School Marksmanship Center.

Revere's Riders Donates Over $14k to Ovar'coming Together - By Bruce Williams - 2020 was the second year for the Marty Brown Memorial series of events and we hoped to improve our fundraising to $20,000 from just under $12,000 last year. Our plans included splitting the Marty Brown Memorial Open event into two separate 1-day events hopefully making it easier for more people to attend. Clarence shooter wins gold, bronze in Jamestown matches - By Milton Northrop, Buffalonews.com - Alexis Kirk, a former state high school air rifle individual champion, took home gold and bronze medals from the Civilian Marksmanship Program's Winter Home Range Series held last weekend in Jamestown. A 2020 Clarence graduate who competed with undefeated teams there, she topped a field of 13 with a score of 611.2 (588 without added decimal points) for 60 shots in the standing air rifle portion. She was third in the three-position small bore (.22 caliber) match.

Rifle/Pistol Marksmanship 101 and Small Arms Firing Schools. The CMP will be holding several Rifle/Pistol Marksmanship 101 classes and the National Match Small Arms Firing Schools. The classes, consisting of classroom instruction, range training, practice and firing a M16 match, fired on Kongsberg Electronic targets. Competitors should bring the following if they have them: Mats, scopes, jackets, etc. Rifles and Ammunition will be provided by the CMP. Visit the CMP website for additional information.

Applications for the CMP Range Officer Training Course are now available.
The CMP Range Officer Training Course is a program developed by the Civilian Marksmanship Program to provide training and structured on-the-range work experiences to prepare interested persons to serve as qualified Range Officers in CMP sponsored and sanctioned competitions. CMP Introduces New Indoor Rifle and Pistol Winter Home Range Series - Though the weather outside is frightful, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is keeping the competition season hot by introducing a fresh set of marksmanship opportunities for rifle and pistol competitors to enjoy from their local ranges during the frosty months. The mission of the State Directors is to provide leadership, resource and program information, coordination, networking, motivation and publicity for junior shooting within his or her state. The CMP is currently taking applications for the following states: Delaware, Louisiana, Tennessee and Washington. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park is the "THE HOME OF MARKSMANSHIP" (no membership required) where responsible firearm ownership, safety instruction, and accuracy training reside inside a beautiful 500 acre range facility. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park has something for all types of firearms and firearm owners. The Park prides itself on its friendly - accommodating staff and the time savings of electronic targets.

The CMP "Aces" Postal satellite match offers all junior and adult air rifle and air pistol shooters a program designed to encourage participation in the sport and test marksmanship skills nationally with their peers. The program consists of Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and Para-Air Rifle/Air Pistol events.

The CMP is excited to launch a new Postal Competition for Smallbore Shooters. While the world continues to battle the COVID-19 virus, the CMP will continue to conduct competitions for its athletes however it can. This Postal Competition will feature both 3-Position and Prone events fired at a distance of 50ft. Individuals and clubs can register and fire in both events. This competition will be scored using the Orion Scoring System.

The CMP Talladega Spring Classic will be held at the CMP's Talladega Marksmanship Park. The event schedule has been designed to appeal to rifle and pistol enthusiasts alike in order to provide a variety of marksmanship opportunities to competitors from around the country. Each firing point of the 500-acre facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art, KTS electronic target and scoring monitor. Located beside the shooter, on the firing line, each monitor allows the competitor to see their shot value in a matter of seconds.

The CMP is pleased to announce a series of home range matches for winter 2020-2021. These matches will be fired indoor in .22 pistol, air rifle, air pistol, rimfire and smallbore disciplines. Scores from all local matches will be compiled into one match (similar to a postal event). Awards will be sent to overall winners. This is a great way to get a national ranking without leaving your local range! Each competitor will receive a winter hat and match decal for their participation.
