CMP Supports 4-H Shooting Sports |
CMP Supports 4-H Shooting Sports
. The CMP annually supports 4-H Shooting Sports. Below are Thank Yous from State 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinators.
Kansas 4-H Shooting Sports.
Kansas 4-H Shooting Sports used the $200 donation for supplies to make the 2018 Spring State Match a successful event. Our Spring State Match involved youth shooting BB guns and air rifles at paper targets and air pistols at paper targets and metal silhouettes. With this money, we bought spray paint to paint silhouette targets between each shooter, targets and target labels for over 250 shooters, along with water to keep volunteers hydrated throughout the day. This donation allowed us to keep the costs down a little lower for the youth to attend.
We had a gorgeous day for our state match, and it was well attended by over 500 youth and spectators. Out of this match, eight youth were selected to go on to attend the National Match in June 2018.
Indiana 4-H Shooting Sports.
On behalf of Indiana 4-H Shooting Sports, we want to thank you for the Civilian Marksmanship Program's continued support! CMP's funds are used in Indiana to support 4-H Shooting Sports at the state level. These funds help us to offset expenses that are part of the 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator certification workshop. This past fall we certified another 17 new 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinators!
During the certification workshop, the new 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinators receive information on the basics of leading a positive youth development program, including ages & stages, experiential learning and the essential elements. Risk management strategies are covered, along with a "Top 9 List" of tips for operating local Shooting Sports programs effectively. We also share opportunities that 4-H members and volunteers can participate in beyond the 4-H Shooting Sports program.
Each of Indiana's 92 counties is required to have at least one 4-H Shooting Sports certified coordinator. A total of 405 Indiana 4-H Volunteers have now completed the 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator Certification Training over the years. CMP funds enable us to provide materials to the Coordinators while keeping their registration costs low. In addition to the instruction, the Coordinators also receive a Coordinator's Handbook and room and board for the weekend.
Thank you again for CMP's support of our 4-H Program!
