Dates Announced for CMP's 2020 Advanced Maintenance Rifle Class Schedule

The Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) Advanced Maintenance Clinics will return in 2020 for those firearm enthusiasts interested in assembling his or her own vintage rifle with the help of hands-on, knowledgeable instructors.
The Advanced Maintenance Class (AMC) is a three-day course led by the qualified CMP Custom Shop staff members at the office in Anniston, Ala. Designed for those who wish to take their passion for the timeless M1 Garand to the next level, the AMC offers students a unique opportunity to receive unparalleled training from our Custom Shop staff. Topics such as head space, barrel installation, component purpose/function, general rifle assembly, rifle/component maintenance and various accuracy techniques will be covered.

Kozeniesky, Hall Top Rifle and Pistol Events During CMP's 2019 Dixie Double Event

ANNISTON, Ala. - On the weekend of Nov. 1 through Nov. 3, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) held its annual Dixie Double event for air rifle and air pistol competitors at its South Competition Center in Alabama. The two-day Dixie Double competition features some of the best men, women and junior competitors from around the country, including members of the Army Marksmanship Unit and other national-level athletes. The Dixie Double serves as a learning opportunity for upcoming shooters as well as a worthwhile challenge for experienced marksmen.

Garand Collectors Association Offers Additional Scholarship Funds to CMP Youth Athletes
|
Each year, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), an organization dedicated to its commitment to youth programs, offers $1,000, one-year scholarships based on merit and rifle or pistol marksmanship participation to current high school seniors. Along with the $1,000 scholarships awarded by the CMP, the Garand Collectors Association (GCA) has generously donated $10,000 to the CMP to be used for additional student-athlete scholarship earnings. The Top 10 recipients, determined by CMP staff and board members, will receive an extra $1,000 toward their furthered education.

Crossley signs letter of intent, then helps SSS win state title / Shooting
- By Jim Waller - Whidbey News-Times - Coupeville, WA - It was a productive weekend for Oak Harbor's Lauren Crossley and the Sabertooth Shooting Squad. Crossley signed a letter of intent to shoot for Division I North Carolina State University Friday, Nov. 15, and the next day she helped the Sabertooth Shooting Squad precision team win the Washington State Civilian Marksmanship Program Three Position Air Rifle Championships by taking first in the individual standings.

Wa-Hi rifle team strong in road matches
- SPOKANE - Walla Walla High School's rifle teams kicked off their traveling season this weekend by competing in a pair of rifle matches in Washington and Oregon. On Saturday, 94 shooters from 16 Washington and Oregon high schools met in LaPine, Ore., to compete in a Cascade Mountain League JROTC Drill Meet.

Story and photos By Jacob Wiegand - Southeast Missourian - Cadets in Cape Girardeau Central High School's Air Force Junior ROTC program are learning to improve their accuracy. The first year of the AFJROTC program's competitive air rifle marksmanship team is now underway. Retired Air Force Col. Michael Goodin, the program's senior aerospace science instructor, said there are about 15 of the AFJROTC cadets involved with the team. Lions Club Turkey Day event Saturday

The Cody Lions Club isn't doing anything new with its 47th annual Turkey Day event, but that's because everyone goes for what they've always gone for, to play carnival games, test their marksmanship with .22 rifles, win turkeys and game hens. County 4-H shooting team successful at tournament
- By Matt Barber/Extension Agent - Lexington, NC - Shooting sports is an excellent example of 4-H's motto of "Learn by Doing" and our dedication to educating youth through hands on activities. Shooting sports curriculum uses the resources of North Carolina State University and the dedication of certified 4-H leaders who coach 4-H members in firearm safety and marksmanship. The shooting disciplines include archery, muzzle loading, pistol, rifle and shotgun. 4-H members have the opportunity to test their shooting skills in county, regional, state and national competitions.

Rifle/Pistol Marksmanship 101 and Small Arms Firing Schools. The CMP will be holding several
Rifle/Pistol Marksmanship 101 classes and the National Match Small Arms Firing Schools. The classes, consisting of classroom instruction, range training, practice and firing a M16 match, fired on Kongsberg Electronic targets. Competitors should bring the following if they have them: Mats, scopes, jackets, etc. Rifles and Ammunition will be provided by the CMP. Visit the

The CMP Range Officer Training Course is a program developed by the Civilian Marksmanship Program to provide training and structured on-the-range work experiences to prepare interested persons to serve as qualified Range Officers in CMP sponsored and sanctioned competitions.

The Gary Anderson Invitational, held Dec. 7-8, 2019, at the CMP South Competition Center in Anniston, Ala., and Dec. 7 at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Camp Perry, Ohio, is open to junior schools, clubs and individuals of all experience levels. Marksmanship Nights at CMP Competition Centers
