Mindset and teamwork: Fort Moore soldiers place at USA Shooting Olympic Trials - In a competition requiring deadly accuracy, it’s more than physical skill which defines champions. The top rifle and pistol shooting athletes in the country gathered at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) training facilities at Fort Moore for the first part of the USA Shooting Olympic Trials for the Summer 2024 Olympics in Paris. U.S. Army Soldiers Have Strong Showing at Part 1 of USA Shooting’s Rifle Olympic Trials - Soldiers with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit competed at Part 1 of USA Shooting’s Rifle and Pistol Olympic Trials at Fort Moore, Georgia Sept. 28 - Oct. 3 and came away with two Gold Medals, three Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal. The USA Shooting Olympic Trials, which are one of three parts, included men’s and women’s 10m air rifle, 10m air pistol, and 50m smallbore, or 50m three-position rifle, as well as women’s 25m sport pistol and men’s rapid fire pistol. Tucker Wins Smallbore at 2024 Olympic Trials Part One - MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Fifth year Mary Tucker claimed her second straight finals title, this time taking the women's smallbore crown on the final day of action at the 2024 Olympic Trials Part One in Fort Moore, Georgia. Two more Mountaineers made finals appearances, with junior Gavin Barnick finishing fifth in men's air rifle and senior Molly McGhin taking sixth in women's smallbore. Tucker won the smallbore final with a 456.8. She posted a 1,172 (582-590) over the opening two qualifying relays. North Dakota Game and Fish offers shooting ranges on 5 wildlife management areas - Looking for a place to hone your shooting skills before hunting this fall? Try one of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s five public shooting ranges on state wildlife management area lands. Ranges in Bismarck, Mandan, Riverdale and Williston are located on lands along the Missouri River owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, said Marty Egeland, education section supervisor for Game and Fish in Bismarck. A fifth shooting range near Wilton, North Dakota, is on some land the department manages, he said, and a sixth range in the works near Hankinson in the southeast part of the state could be online as early as next year. NRA to host basic pistol class - JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The National Rifle Association (NRA) will host a basic pistol class from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Daisystown Sportsmen’s Club indoor range, 198 Fulmer Road, Johnstown. The course consists of classroom and range shooting. It focuses on safety, basic knowledge, skills and attributes of guns, along with shooting, cleaning, storage, essential elements of owning and proper methods of using a handgun safely. Shooting sports students earn team, individual awards at OYE - Woodward FFA shooting sports students had a strong showing in the Oklahoma Youth Expo shotgun sports competition in September. Two of the FFA teams qualified for the final, held on Sept. 27 and will be recognized at the OYE show next march. There were 144 teams entered in the competition.
