CMPC® Recertification Reminder:
Applications Due January 31, 2021
|

Dear Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC):
It is time to renew your CMPC® credential. 2020 has been anything but predictable, and in recognizing the impact COVID-19 has had on all our professional lives, the Certification Council extended the recertification deadline to January 31, 2021.
To help meet the application requirements and guide you through a successful renewal process, please review this checklist and guidance statement.
STEPS TO RECERTIFICATION:
-
After submitting the application fee, AASP staff will confirm receipt of payment and notify our new testing provider, Scantron, you are eligible to sit for the exam. CMPCs who are already approved to test and have been expecting to receive an email from Scantron will be contacted this week with access credentials for our new scheduling portal. Online and onsite testing is now available. Approved candidates can select their modality at time of registration. If testing before December 31, AASP will send your results within approximately one week. The timeframe varies for test dates January 5, 2021 and later as noted below.
- AASP's contract with our current provider, Pearson VUE, ends December 31, 2020. The Scantron exam will be available starting January 5, 2021. It is important to note that if a candidate waits to test until early 2021, our new partner, Scantron, may hold scores for a few weeks while the Standard Setting Study is conducted. CMPCs who in good faith submit complete applications by the January 31, 2021 deadline will remain active status during the application review and hold-score period even if they have not received notice of passing the certification exam yet.
2. Traditionally, candidates cannot submit a recertification application until they have passed their exam. However, in light of the global pandemic, the Council has agreed to accept recertification applications prior to passing the exam this cycle only:
-
Should a 2020 recertification candidate choose to wait to test online for safety reasons and not pass, there will not be enough time to retest within the 90-day retest waiting period and still meet the January 31, 2021 application deadline. Thus, the Council has agreed to waive the $50 reinstatement fee for a candidate who only needs to RETEST, but had in good faith initiated the recertification process which would now mean submitting your application fee, application materials (e.g. recertification application and CEUs), and attempting the exam before the January 31, 2021 deadline.
-
If candidates do not take any action at all and do not contact AASP prior to January 31, they will need to reinstate officially, pay the $50 fee, and will move to expired status on February 1, 2021.
3. A completed application must include a Continuing Education (CE) Activity Log documenting 45 CEUs accrued during the 5-year period. The CMPC® Recertification Application and CE Activity Log are found on the Applications Form page.
-
Of the 45 CEUs, 3 credit hours are required in each of these areas: Ethics, Diversity, and Mentorship/Supervision* (*M/S only required if the CMPC® wants to maintain their listing on the Registry of Approved Mentors). A maximum of 6 Self-Directed Study hours is allowed. CE activities must correspond to the knowledge areas that are representative of the CMPC® content domains. AASP also offers CEU-eligible webinars/virtual conferences.
- Please note that as 2017 was the inaugural year of the new program, only attendance at AASP conferences 2017 - 2020 can be counted for 12 CEUs each. Like webinars, keep your conference registration emails as proof of attending
