Counselor's Corner
We are excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year and can't wait to welcome our students in person.
If you have scheduling questions regarding next year, please refer to our CMS Counseling Page. There is a wealth of information that may answer many of your questions, including a form on which you can submit a scheduling concern, or request a change in a core class or year long elective. We will accept semester elective changes the first week of school. There is no need to follow up once you submit. CMS Counseling Page
STOPit - Hotline reporting system
STOPit is an online reporting tool that allows us the opportunity to intervene with at risk students before they hurt themselves or someone else. It also expands beyond helping those at immediate risk of self-harm but also to support students who are struggling socially or emotionally in other areas.
Our students will have access to the STOPit mobile app which has two simple but powerful features.
Report can be used by students to report incidents to school contacts anonymously.
Messenger can be used to engage in anonymous two-way communication with school contacts.
Both Report and Messenger empower students to stand up for themselves and for one another. They can use STOPit to reach out for help if they or a peer are facing a personal crisis or experiencing bullying, abuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation, or are otherwise in need of assistance. Our goal with STOPit is to create safer, kinder, school communities both online and off.
No student information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a student voluntarily includes it within the content of a report or message.
You can find more information about STOPit on our CMS Counseling Page under the Counseling Tab. If you have any questions, feel free to contact one of our counselors or administrators.
Thank you,
Jane Kea, Paula Lynn and Dawn Riedl
