Office News

Label Student Belongings

Every year, we have 100s of items put in Lost & Found and turned into the front office. Please make sure that your child's belongings have their name on it, especially expensive items, so that we can find the owner.

SRO Brett Roberson passes out candy to students during passing periods, as reward for participating in dress up days, etc. She would appreciate any and all donations.

Theater

Auditions for the CMS Fall Musical

The Spongebob Musical: Youth Edition will take place on

Sept. 18

4:00-6:30 pm. 

Auditions are open to all CMS students, you do not have to be in a theatre class to audition. There will also be tech positions available for those who are interested. For more information, or to sign up for an audition/tech, please see Miss Wagner in F105!

CMS Club Opportunities

Carroll Middle School Dragons were introduced to our initial Club Opportunities offered during the 2024-2025 school year. We encourage students to find a club that interests them. CMS prides itself on allowing students to expand our club offerings by opening up student-created clubs. If your student is interested in creating a club, the Club Proposal Form is at the end of the slideshow.

Extended Day

Need to make up a test or quiz? Need a quiet place to work on homework or study after school? Join us in Extended Day. 

Extended Day is held in the library on Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 3:50-4:50 pm.

 

General guidelines:

·        Students must arrive in the library by 3:50 pm with all materials needed, i.e. laptop, binders, pencil, etc.

·        Students who come to take tests or quizzes may leave as soon as they're finished.

Students who come for homework must stay until 4:50 pm

Animal Science Needs

The animals would love to have any of your fruits and veggies that you may need to throw out soon. They love to eat the following:

 

romaine lettuce

spinach

cilantro

strawberries

broccoli

 

We are also looking for newspapers for our feathered friends.

Bass Team Meeting - Sept. 9

Southlake Carroll Odyssey of the Mind - Meet and Greet Q&A Sept. 12

Are you creative? Do you like to act? Do you like to build things? Do you like to problem solve? Do you like to think outside the box? Then Odyssey of the Mind is for YOU! Teams of 5 to 7 kids led by volunteer parent coaches compete in one of several problems (SEE FLYER). Visit dragonsodyssey.org for more information!

Dragon TED-Ed Call for Submissions - Sept. 15

The student-led Dragon TED-Ed is a program that aims to celebrate the ideas of students globally. Southlake Carroll ISD middle school (CMS and DMS) and high school (CHS and CSHS) students are invited to showcase their unique skills and achievements. Whether you are an athlete, musician, public speaker, creative artist, advocate, or passionate about academics, this initiative will highlight your talents and will allow you to share your story. Please submit your interests by answering the questions HERE by Sept. 15. The selected speakers will be notified on Oct. 1. Each speaker will receive coaching and guidance to help prepare for the TED-Ed event on Dec. 8.

AP Boosters Membership and Program - Sept. 18

CISD Advanced Placement Booster Club exists to ensure all students have the opportunity to experience an advanced education by providing volunteer help and financial aid to support teachers and students in grades 5-12. Throughout the school year, AP Boosters hosts programs designed to educate parents and students about a variety of relevant topics. AP Boosters also awards teacher grants to support classroom goals and awards student scholarships. These programs and scholarships are open to members only but anyone can join!


We are excited to announce our first program scheduled for Sept. 18 from 6:30-8:30 pm at CSHS SAC. This program will feature Shane Bybee of Bybee College Prep. Shane will present the topic: Don’t Get Left Behind: Critical Changes in College Admissions You Need to Know. See our flyer for more details.

2024 Homecoming Carnival, Parade, and Pep Rally - Sept. 25

Carroll Student Council is proud to present TIME TRAVEL TO THE BEST PLACE EVER - the 2024 Homecoming Carnival, Parade, and Pep Rally in Town Square on Sept. 25. The carnival will take place in Rustin Park at Town Square from 4:30-6:30 pm., with the parade kicking off at 6:30 pm. If you represent a Carroll ISD student group or club interested in having a carnival booth or parade entry, click here for carnival booth sign-up and here for parade entry sign-up. There are restrictions on eligibility for entry to both, so please read entry forms carefully - all entries must be submitted no later than Sept. 13 by 4:00 pm. For questions, please email:

2024 Junior Belle Clinic and Workshop - Oct. 19 

Join the Award Winning Emerald Belles on Oc. 19 from 1-4 pm at CSHS for the Junior Belle Clinic and Workshop including grades K-8! This will also feature a Performance at Dragon Stadium on Oct. 24. Dancers receive training, a commemorative photo button and T-shirt for the performance night. Snacks are provided.

 

K-4 Clinic $55

5-8 Workshop $85

 

Online registration through 10/11 at www.emeraldbelles.com ; Walk up registration is available day of event for increased fee. (T-shirt size not guaranteed)

 

Doors open at 12:30 pm, showoff performance at 3:45 pm and

then performance night at Dragon Stadium on Oct. 24.



Southlake Showdown 5K Series - Thursdays

Southlake Showdown 5K Series is a 36 week run/walk weekly challenge to get Dragon families and surrounding communities together for some fun. The Series can be as challenging as you would like it to be. Consider joining us for just a casual evening walk or take it up a notch and compete for places. Meeting point is at the entrance to:

Grace Surgery Center

470 E. State Hwy 114

on Thursday evenings.

Warm Up @ 6 pm.

5K Race/Walk starts @ 6:15pm.

Times will change once Day Light Savings Time Ends.
