Labor Day
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, became a federal holiday in 1894 ans is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

The "no white rule" after Labor Day dates back to the holiday's beginning. White was considered vacation attire, so naturally the people who could afford to go somewhere out of town during the summer months wouldn’t dream of coming back home and still dressing in their vacation clothes. White was for play, not for getting paid, and anyone who committed the mistake of wearing a white dress in mid-September obviously didn’t belong in certain elite social circles.

Another version for the rule rests with the change in seasons. As the unofficial end to summer Labor Day also marks a time when fashion has to change to accommodate the fall weather. The white and pastel shades of summer, arguably the best colors to wear for comfort during the hot summer months, get put aside in favor of slightly heavier outfits in darker shades because, it’s probably going to get colder.

Whether you wear white after Labor Day or not, CMS hopes that you had a safe and relaxing Labor day weekend.

Unfortunately, Amazon does not have a way to add AmazonSmile to their app so here is what you do if you shop almost exclusively on your mobile device:
1.) Sign into  smile.amazon.com  on the web-browser of your mobile device.
2.) Select Central Magnet PTO as your charitable organization under settings.
3.) Click the “share” button.
4.) Click “add to home screen.”
5.) Use this short cut instead of the app (it’s a very similar user experience).
6.) Feel good knowing your are supporting the CMS teachers and students!
