FeaturedResourcesFeatured Resources for April 2017

Each month, the healthcare industry celebrates several observances to bring increased attention to a variety of health issues at least once per year. HHQI has a wealth of free resources that you can use to help promote these observances among your staff and patients. Below is a list of HHQI's featured resources that support four major health & healthcare-related observances celebrated in April.
NATIONAL MINORITY HEALTH MONTH

The Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign's Underserved Populations (UP) Network was created out of the need to address disparities and improve care among vulnerable populations, including minorities. The UP Network presents quarterly webinars on a wide variety of topics. Browse the archives or subscribe to our mailing lists to be among the first to know about future events.

Featured HHQI Resources:
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY MONTH

Occupational therapy practitioners are effective and important components of any home health agency's patient care and administrative teams. They can have many roles in improving efficiency, implementing new administrative requirements, and optimizing outcomes for patients.

FOOT HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

For people with diabetes, nerve damage, circulation problems, and infections can lead to serious foot problems. During Foot Health Awareness Month, you are encouraged to remind yourself and your patients of the things that can be done to keep their feet in good shape, improve circulation, and catch a problem before it becomes severe.

Featured HHQI Resources:
ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH

Many patients are unaware of the negative impacts that excessive alcohol can have on their health. For instance, drinking too much can raise the levels of some fats in the blood. It can also lead to high blood pressure and heart failure and an increased calorie intake which can lead to obesity or diabetes. Also, alcohol can reduce the effectiveness or cause adverse interactions with cerain medications. During Alcohol Awareness Month, make a special effort to educate patients about these risks.
